Hey Peeps, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEEDS UTD ...93 YEARS OLD TODAY I wonder if anyone is going to post us any presents??? Maybe a new owner, or at least a new forward. What Birthday present would you want for the Super Whites??? It appears that GFH have little financial fire power to complete the takeover deal," according to Sa'Pinto, French & Weir of REUTERS. According to an internal document from '10 reviewed by Reuters and verified by four former insiders, the Bahrain company had "previously taken big fees from projects that rarely see completion." Dubai-based GFH Capital "is in exclusive talks to buy Leeds, which it estimates has a market value of around £52M ($83M)." However, the GFH group "had more than a quarter of a billion dollars of accumulated losses and less than $6M in cash at the end of June." Leeds Supporters' Trust Chair Gary Cooper said, "Words don't buy football clubs; Money buys football clubs. We would expect to see evidence of GFH's ability to fulfill their claims and promises in the very near future after the takeover." GFH Capital CEO David Haigh said that "his company had the resources to complete the transaction and buy new players, but gave no further details on the deal, citing a non-disclosure agreement during negotiations." GFH Capital said that "it can afford the investments to get the club back into the Premier League and buy back the stadium." The group's accounts "present a more more equivocal picture." After losing more than a billion dollars in '09 and '10, the group reported a profit of just $381,000 in '11 -- less than a month's pay for a top EPL player -- after "slashing staff costs and canceling staff bonuses already accounted for in previous financial statements"
Morning Elland. Happy birthday to us, happy birthday to us, happy birthday to us..., happy birthday to us. Why were we born so beautiful, why were we born at all? We're no fu&&in' use to anyone, we're no fu&&in' use at all!!! Moving on. This T/O is getting seriously irritating. I really hope that the club/GFH put out a joint statement today confirming that the financial problems of GFH are unconnected to the GFH Capital that's trying to buy Leeds. We really need this done & dusted before the January T/W comes around. Good though he is, Warnock really will need a few quid to strengthen in January.
Morning!! Good point Boggers, agree we need to strengthen for the run-in, something we've consistently failed to do under Bates. Can't understand why LUST are still making comments, have they not learnt that at this stage it's best to keep quiet? Grrrrrrrrr
If it materialised, it would set us up nicely for Friday; the fans would be in a good mood. The players would know all is well. & Wednesday would know they were in for an even harder time than they already know they are. Let's hope the deal gets done soon, as the nightmare scenario is that Warnock walks having finally had enough of being jerked around over the lack of funds.
Morning all. My one big worry throughout this boring, irritating t/o deal, is that Warnock changed his mind about leaving the club this summer, because he had met with the 'new owners'. Apparently these guys spent ages doing the due diligence work and decided to walk away. Now GFH are fronting another bid, but if things go titsup again, or the newer owners don't have cash as promised, where does that leave Warnock. He's been shafted twice already and any deal seems even further away. Nice to see young Thompson get a debut goal last night. Also think FIFA/EUAFA should kick Serbia out of comps because a message needs sending out to these eastern European right wing countries. They won't though, and last time fined them only £16,000 and we all know what happened with all the trouble Turkish fans have caused over the years, and they get away with it.
& England fans haven't exactly been angels over the years!! That said, UEFA will have to find a way to deal with new Europe, as so much of it is & remains monocultural. They simply do not know what to do with black & asian people. Some see it as they go on holidays to these places. We're now seeing it in the contex of football matches. It's a societorial problem rather than purely a football problem. Whilst there are sill bits of British society that find monkey chants, banana throwing, & the TANBITUJ approach acceptable, by & large we've moved on in the last 20 years. Whole chunks of new Europe haven't. Will be interesting to se how UEFA handle this.
Ryan HALL WILL SIGN TODAY in time for Sheffield thgis is according to NW .Didn,t realise thatLleeds is notmnuch older than me!
127 years and just a Docklands trophy to show for it? I rest my case milord,Milwall are crap,as charged
Can it really be 93 years since Leeds United commenced from the ashes of Leeds City FC? I remember the day well, there was a bright sun in the sky and the people of Leeds were dancing on the streets in excitement of the birth of their new football club. I was down the pub a few hours before kick off, supping a few black ales and eating some imported food to keep me going. I had my white shirt, black tie and dirty jacket on and I had my cap cleaned just for the occasion....... Happy Burfday.
Morning all Not so sure NW would walk now. Mick Jones talking on LUTV spoke of targets they had with or without investment, so sounds like he is going to see this season out one way or another. Ryan Hall sounds like the type of player we are missing at the moment, lets hope he signs and NW gets the best out of him. Boggers agree about a joint statement but as we have seen all summer, it's only when LUST have released news that the club have responded. It really is a disgrace the lack of communication with the fans from the club.
If all the comments about his ability are true, the possible arrival of Hall will show more than anything else that we're going in the right direction. T/O or no T/O, having someone who can deliver with either foot what Snoddy & Gradel at their best could deliver would show that promotion this season really is more than just a pipe dream. 3 big points on Friday please.
No danger with all the rain around that Wednesday will do a Warsaw & fu&k the plans by having a waterlogged pitch? How pathetic was that, even more so as their stadium has a roof on it as well. Cliff Richard was even standing by to play whilst the roof was closed!!!!
Morning all Yeah that game was (or not was) a joke yesterday. Got to feel for the fans that have travelled. I think I would have been diving around on the pitch for a bit of fun as well if I knew I had a flight booked home in the morning
Bucks agree Totally disgraceful and feel sorry for Danny Rose poor kid looked distraught! Serbia need banning for minimum of 10 years
