This. Ghoddle, you seem to misinterprate disagreeing with your opinion that Lloris should be number 1 choice regardless as some big conspiracy by all of us because we hate Lloris. We're all happy he's here but he joined under no illusions that he'd walk straight into the team and you should recognise that too.

My thoughts on the Lloris situation...

Seriously, this has been going on far too long now, it's become maddening and utterly ridiculous in equal measure.

I'd prefer Gomes to be transferred.

Well the France defence went to sleep and have just gone 1-0 down. The ball hit the post and bounced away to the right where it was kicked back across goal on the deck. Lloris touched it and it fell to a Spaniard who clipped it in. Not Lloris' fault as the ball was well struck across the goal.

He could have gone the wrong way but chose the right way. It was a good save and I hope it convinces AVB.

I'm not, you're totally misrepresenting my argument. Lots of Spurs here and elsewhere have made incorrect digs at Lloris, and if anyone says the captain of France shouldn't play for us, that's a lack of confidence in him AFAIC.

I don't recognise any such thing, and completely disagree with you and PNP on this, and I think you're both doing a massive disservice to the captain of France in advocating he's not good enough to play for us, preferring the inferior (though a great chap) Freidel.

I hope it helps, incidentally IIRC Brad has the current worst record for saving pens in the Prem, having let in 18 in a row, might be wrong on this, but I think I read it somewhere. I certainly can't recall him saving one for us.

I'd far rather have Lloris facing a pen than Friedel that's for sure.

Also, besides the pen save, Lloris made a tremendous double save and was so quick off his line again at other times. He showed again why he's a step up from Friedel, and it frankly baffles me why anyone doesn't want him in goal v Chelsea.

and if they do, it's a vote of no confidence in the captain of France AFAIC.

We're lucky to have such a dilemna to choose from. Two fantastic keepers, one who's been one of the best keepers the Prem has seen and the other, a 26 year old France international who's rated as one of the best in Europe.

For me personally, I'd have Lloris, he's quicker, more agile and willing to take risks - the latter part being the only thing that annoys me with Brad. Brad tends to rarely move off his line which I think cost us against Norwich and WBA but at the same time, he's made some tremendous saves and unlike what we had to witness with Gomes, when he goes to make a catch, you don't get a throbbing heart, worrying that he'll drop it.

Lloris needs game time, how else will he reach his true potential and prove to everyone how good he is? Some have mentioned not chucking him at the deep end straight away as it could prove costly, it can work both ways though, look at Vorm at Swansea, he's already rated as one of the league's best after one season and Mignolet at Sunderland has made the number 1 position his own for the past 2 seasons beating a once highly rated Craig Gordan (and now Kieren Westwood) to it. Reina (although has been VERY dodgy as of late) also walked into the Liverpool team and won the golden glove 3 years in a row. Cech too took the number 1 jersey straight away.

I think leaving Lloris out the side will have an adverse effect, he's a player used to playing and with all due respect, he's a player I'd never expect to see at the Lane, especially as we don't have CL footy and so by leaving him on the bench to play second fiddle, won't do his confidence any good.

As I said though, we have two top keepers, I won't be p*ssed off at seeing Brad stay the number 1 for a while longer, slightly disappointed perhaps but I have the upmost confidence in both to do a great job.

    Fair comments SOS

    some good quotes here

    http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/3...arsenal-lloris-giroud-spurs-france-spain.htm?

France managed to halt Spain's run of 24 consecutive victories thanks to two Premier League newcomers as Olivier Giroud and Hugo Lloris grabbed the headlines.

Sergio Ramos handed Spain the lead in the 26th minute but former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas was then denied from the penalty spot after a superb save from Tottenham goalkeeper Lloris....

Lloris has forced his way in to the plans of Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas and his performance against reigning world champions Spain showed exactly why the north London club were so keen to sign him from Lyon.

Spurs face a tricky test against table topping Chelsea this weekend and Lloris will hope his performance for France has persuaded Villas-Boas to keep him in the starting side.

It has been going on far too long and I agree it's maddening and ridiculous in equal measure. I will be truly maddened if AVB doesn't play Lloris on Saturday.

Until the manager relents and installs Lloris as number as No. 1, the situation will rage on.

Can you imagine how the French will react after one of their heroes in gaining a draw in Spain is dumped onto the bench for Saturday. Can you imagine how the captain of France will feel if this happens?

Oh and BTW as you can tell, I care, massively. spurs are my club, I want us to get top 4, Lloris may make all the difference, he's certainly an upgrade on Brad, who is a great guy and a very good keeper still, but Lloris is top notch.

Can you imagine if we got Benzema in? First of all the fans would have been far more all over him than Lloris, and yet who's the French captain? Secondly imagine the outcry if Benzema would have been benched for his troubles in joining Spurs.

Yet here we are, a team not even in the CL, benching the French captain and CL regular. 'Ridiculous', yep that about sums it up.

If we signed Benzema and Defoe had won us as many points and played as well as Brad has you'd still drop him for the new guy who hasn't even had a chance to settle in?

Do you not think this opinion has been expressed enough now. I don't think anyone on this site now wonders who you think should be our No.1 - ironically everyone believes he will be, but it is only about whether it is immediately or in the short term. I for one will take it as read you think Lloris should play every week he is not injured, so can I respectfully suggest you don't need to keep repeating it?

I don't rate Benzema as much as many, but I bet there'd be a massive outcry if Benzema was benched in favour of Defoe..

I'd have had Benzema straight in the team, but I don't know as much about him as I do Lloris.

Lloris is a no-brainer for me, he should be playing against Chelsea.

    http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/3841/world-cup-2014/2012/10/17/3456074/-?

Some good quotes here, the French defender needs to be careful though, when I said Lloris was world class on here, I got called 'naive'.
