Could it be possible to impose EVEN STRONGER sanctions than last time? I mean 16,000 Euros is probably the equivalent of my work fining me a fiver for beating up a colleague. Ouch! I don't think I could take it!
Ok before reading please note I am not condoning what the Serbs have done. Thinking about it though even if they could, should they rescind it and where would the line get drawn - could Rose jump in to the crowd Kung fu style and be absolved responsibility due to the abuse received. I think the Serbs should be booted out of competition for a number of years for this, but using the adage two wrongs don't make a right - did the ref actually do the right thing by booking Rose in terms of applying the letter of the law (not in applying common sense) and would this be UEFAs take on it?
Can we nuke the ****ing Serbs? (see an emoticon for those who can't read a joke) Getting sent off for a reaction to racial abuse is a joke ... any punishment for racism?
That's a very stupid thing to say also. You're criticising them for singling out one race or group and then saying you want to nuke the Serbs? Words fail me.
Amazed that the ref found that only Rose needed to be booked in that melee. Kicking a ball into the crowd is bookable, but what about everything else.
He kicked a ball into the racist ****s?, he didn't 'kung ****ing' or start beating some one up. Kicking a ball anger isn't bad at all isit?.
It was a joke? I was kind of waiting for the humorous part. My bad. Do several other people here find that funny and I'm just missing it?
By the letter of the law, Rose should be able to claim he was provoked. I know if I'd been in his position, I'd have wanted to crack some heads. Furthermore, law is supposed to reflect common sense. It would be common sense to not ban Rose, and to give Serbia a hefty fine and suspension from international football. FIFA need to make a really big deal out of this. They should make too big a deal if anything. This has been a prevalent problem in Serbia for a long time, and they clearly need the motivation to start taking it more seriously. Give them a proper punishment and maybe they'll learn.
I'm sorry but just because I don't find the "can't we f-ing nuke the Serbs" funny doesn't need you to get all aggressive and Mr Macho over it. Sit down, chill out and stop making comments that make you look like a tool. Grow up.
Is'nt it amazing this sort of behaviour is still tolerated by FIFA/UEFA. I hope the young English lads dished out a few punches in the tunnel too.
Mr Dripping I too would personally have struggled to show any kind of self restraint, but all I was pointing out is that kicking the ball in to the crowd is a booking offence and according to the rules there are no allowances for provocation. Was not suggesting it was morally the right thing for the ref to do, but technically it was the right thing to do.
Well it wouldn't be totally mad to make an exception or alteration would it? Issues of racism should supercede football. This isn't about sport any more.
Agree with you on first point and really hope common sense prevails. On the second point you are spot on, but I have a nasty feeling that very little will happen.
Or didn't realise at the time which was kind of the point I made to begin with. It really kicked off so I'm kind of hoping he didn't realise It had happened and just saw Rose booting ball at crowd amongst the madness and booked him. In terms of your comment they are meant to use their head, that's a whole new can of worms. I'm no lover of refs but really have sympathy for them on this. One day they are beaten with the got to have consistency of decision making in applying the letter of the law; the next day they are hit with the common sense and interpretation must prevail. Unfortunately, these two things are mutually exclusive I think.
