QUOTE The on-loan QPR midfielder put in a heavy tackle on Istres winger Guy-Roland Niangbo and the pair had to be pulled apart following a frank exchange of views Marseille midfielder Joey Barton became involved in an angry spat with Istres player Guy-Roland Niangbo over a heavy tackle during a recent friendly match. The 30-year-old put in a crunching challenge on the winger which resulted in crossed words between the pair and required other players to intervene. After the match, Istres coach Jose Pasqualetti warned the former Manchester City star against taking a physical approach in France. "He'll have to be careful, that kind of thing does not happen in Ligue 1," he told reporters. The QPR loanee was recently handed a 12-game ban by the FA for violent conduct, following his actions during the final game of last season against Manchester City. Barton has five games remaining on that sanction, which applies to all Ligue 1 and Coupe de la Ligue games but not those played in Europe. UNQUOTE Here we go again...
Im a Barton hater but this is a non story, he put in a physical tackle and the French dont like it. Talk about gutless.
In fairness to both Barton and the French player, we'd have to see it to judge. If it was a red card equivalent in a friendly...
Then he should have been asked to leave the field by the ref as usually happens. It doesnt even say that it was a foul.
I don't know what usually happens in friendlies in France so can't say that he should have left the field or not. But in England, it's pretty unusual for the opposing manager to single out one player for criticism for violent conduct in a friendly. N'est pas?
Thats because they play a no contact sport over there. it would probably be a run of the mill challenge here, the Guardian has a photo of it and its not violent at all.
QPR fans like a bit of a rogue, we dont like total pricks. Its a shame Barton doesnt know the difference.
I'm so bored of Barton stories and one sided views. Not saying thats the case here as have no idea what's gone on. It's quite clear we have 2 camps that can't agree. One thinks he was hard done by and there is over the top venom because of his name and the other where he is the catalyst for everything and no punishment is enough.
Mate, i wasnt aware that was the case. I thought everyone was fairly united in our hatred for JB wearing our colours ? Personally i dont give a T**S what he does with the rest of his life, as long as it involves neither me, my family nor QPR. I'd be intrested to know if there is anyone who actually still defends him and his actions...? Personally cant see how anyone could, but I'm sure there may be some sort of warped logic that explains it..?
