Zenit currently have players from at least ten countries outside Russia so they potentially have interest into these players from those countries. How many overseas players are currently on Rangers books.

That has nothing to do with anything , so a player like Hulk goes there and all of a sudden Brazilian fans swoop to St Petersburg ? Maybe a few rich ones but how many seriously ?

Yet more ignorance toward what life is like outside of this bubble.

1 - Zenit regularly sell out.
2 - Do you know what Russia is? Let me explain...it's basically this enormous landmass where everyone is poor as ****. Zenit is by far the most popular team in the country (of 144 million people) but the vast majority of its supporters, who are dotted around this vast landmass, have no way of travelling to, or paying to attend games. They'd do well to get a TV. But yeah, they still sell out their stadium, and will increase their attendances further once the stadium is complete.

    So a popualtion of 144 Million .
    The most popular club ?
    The richest club ?
Has a capacity of 21,000 and does not always sell out ?
So their millions of fans are not an attractive option then on your argument as they dont have a telly <laugh>

Particularly among the younger Chinese (under 30) the sport they prefer is basketball, followed by table tennis and then maybe football. Many of them particularly outside the big cities do not have the time to spare for following sport. The majority here work 12-14 hours each day -seven days a week. The younger generations prefer basketball because they have had more success at that sport than any other in recent years. China was eliminated from the World Cup qualification last year, coming third in their four team group behind Jordan and Iraq.

And pointless anyway if they did as they would not be able to buy a Heineken or a Ford

How many Japanese fans suddenly arrived at St Marys once Lee (Chung) arrived there?

Well be a bit surprised..Barry....... was in Nigeria a couple of years back parked at the side of the road getting some fruit.....Along came a lad and his dad on the most ancient of bikes I have ever seen.
Both had Saints shirts on admittedly they were not the current saints shirts. Neither spoke English but the lady on the stall did and asked questions on my behalf....The dad new about Crouch and Beattie and remembered from when he was a boy Micky Channon and Peter Osgood.
The dads brother was over here and used to send of all things the echo over every couple of months and a few national news papers as long as they had pictures of the Saints. I was invited back to their village to meet a few of the other "believers" as they called them, or as near to translation as would allow. By this time our guard was having a heart attack and was threatening to shoot us himself if we didn't move on.....<laugh>
Similar happened in Kenya in the east, Saw a few Saints shirts but I couldn't ask the wearers any questions. Past a orphanage being run by an English lady and all were wearing yellow and blue with the saints crest on. Again could not get out to ask questions wasn't allowed again at the point of a gun. To be fair though saw some united shirts too in both countries. I am not sure how big our fan base is other than it is world wide and getting bigger in Japan in particular.

You know what? I'm gonna throw a curveball out there and lobby for East Stirling's inclusion into this Super League. They've already proven that they can defeat the giants that are Rangers, so surely they can compete against the rest of the world's best.

I have been to a few arroudnd the World and seen similar but that does not mean we have a huge fan base , Rangers and Celtics come from years ago and the plastic paddy and loyalist who moved away years ago , right or wrong they are everywhere .
I was in Goa in February this year and the bloke who sold bannanas had a Saints top on but he wore the shirt for practical reasons and not for the love of the Itchen .

That I totally agree with you....however you do see a lot of shirts of various teams around I agree they may have been given them and wearing them as you say for practical reasons.
I wasn't trying to suggest Saints had a huge fan base......it was your comment about being surprised if you would see any in Western Africa.
Cape Verde was another place where we came upon a few fans of Saints these were mainly people that at sometime had lived in Southampton. Mainly Somalies and I am not sure they were here legally either I had the impression they had been shipped back........ if you see what I mean........They could talk about the current Saints side and the the particular problems we were in (It was around the time of our first relegation). So either they were genuine fans or just people that new a lot about football was difficult to see...........

There are many people in Africa that own out of date football shirts of Prem teams amongst others due to the 'kit for causes' programme.

    http://www.kits4causes.org/

But i guess the recipients are proud to wear them regardless of where they got them.<ok>

Again I totally agree....that was why I wanted to talk to the people wearing the shirt but it was not always possible.......
