I imagine Celtic must be popular 'worldwide' if we just compare their fanbase outside their countries (ie outside russia and outside scotland). I'm guessing that just over 1 million of that 9 million is from Scotland, which means close to 8 million fans outside Scotland. While I'm guessing almost all of that 23+ is from Russia. I think that's what he was trying to say.

If I was in West Africa and I was walking around the place and saw a local with a Saints top on I would be a tad suprised , its not exactly like I was strolling down Shirley high street is it ?

The argument is this, and has always been this: there is not a single team of the 20 I listed that should be substituted for Rangers on the basis of worldwide support. You said that they should be in there, I showed you facts that suggested they were nowhere near having the fanbase of any of the teams I listed. My one argument remains the same, and still stands strong. All 20 of those teams I listed have a bigger fanbase than Rangers, and a better team at that. You're not backing out now, just because you've been made to look a moron by both myself and Mr. Nice. Face up to the fact that you've been talking nonsense.

I admitted that earlier. Celtic do appear to have more fans outside Scotland.

Even if your figures were correct are you saying that a a club that has previously won the European Cup, has an average attendance of over 50k and has fanbase of 9m does not fill the criteria of a 'BIG' club with the credentials to be considered for a European Super League?

But he would not put Rangers in there <doh> Rangers are huge around the globe as well , I can confidently state they are bigger and would be a far more attractive option across the globe for tv companies than Zenit Saint Petersburg <laugh>

While some parts of Asia this may be so.

But here in China, those that follow European football tend to follow Man Utd, AC Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona. Champions League matches are shown here live (midweek at 2.45am, an hour later when the clocks go back in Europe soon) and repeated the next day. Despite the wide range of teams televised most fans struggle to name more than these four teams.

Interesting facts there. Now amuse me, how often are Celtic and Rangers mentioned?

Ignorance and confidence. Is there a worse combination?

Oh well that's me sorted then. Who needs facts when you have the assuring, unsupported wisdom of one anonymous dribbling moron on a football forum?

I guess they're all quite new to the game then? Considering they haven't heard of Liverpool.

<laugh> So Celtic are bigger and yet Rangers are not <laugh>
Joe are are quite wrong , they dont even sell out there current stadium of 21,000 , what its going to look like with their 62,000 stadium (been postponed and delayed lots and lots , council have to do it now) heaven knows .
Rangers average 47,000 in the 3rd tier of Scottish football .
