I for one am against independence, it makes no sense IMHO. You cannot get by with asking one simple question, independence Yes / No. I hope it gets turned down and we move on, I am very proud of my Scottish heritage but we need to stay as we are.

Am struggling to come to grips with technology My laptop went into laptop hospital last Thursday after refusing point blank to work, and was discharged today having had a hard drive transplant. I've spent the afternoon trying to get it back to normal as much as I can after losing everything - and just realised that I no longer have a sound card Back to the hospital with it tomorrow
My digital TV receiver died a couple of weeks ago, but I was pleased to get a new one as it was less than 2 years old. This weekend the BBC changed around a number of the transponders that we get our programmes from. Spent an age trying to get all of the channels installed, but what i didn't know was that you can only do it when a channel is actually being shown. So I could get CBBC which I don't watch often, but BBC4 was just not there. My expert told me to try again after 8.00pm our time and I have found it. Bad instructions I think, it should be made simple for technophobes.
See thats where you are partly wrong. They have gathered a lot of good data that can be used to help future astronaughts and help to develop ejection devices for space craft. That way if there is a problem detected there is a backup plan. They also gathered info about the space up there. It was a mission to break a record, but they also gained valuable info too. You could also save a lot of people in africa by sending over condoms. Their problems are only exasperated by the fact that they insist on having more and more kids. If you cant feed yourself then why should you have kids? Its cruel and irresponsible. Granted, it wont solve the problem completely, but it help.

You could also feed Africa with a 0.001% reduction in the USA defense expenditure - and no doubt in 100,000 other ways. It is not reasonable to say don't do this because of that - humanity has only developed where it has by pushing frontiers - and despite the risks - and I am glad this was wreck-less rather than reckless - this has no doubt contributed a lot to the understanding of how materials react in extreme conditions amnd many other potential benefits

Morning all, dull and grey with a hint of drizzle in the air. I have been reading a journalists research into the very strange ownership at Pompey. He clearly managed to interview many of the leading figures in the whole sorry tale and with the evidence he compiled was able to send the whole dossier to the FL in time for them to decide about allowing a previous money-lender owner to take over for a third time. The research became open to the general public to read on the internet and this was followed by a couple of national newspapers taking up the story. However the local newspaper stated that due to legal advice they would not comment. This reminded me of the stance taken by the WO when Kevin Affleck was breaking news about Baz and the Pozzos. Why does it take independent journalists to take the risk of being summoned to court when it should be the role of a newspaper to seek out facts and present them to their readers? With the advent of the internet newspapers are under threat and need to attract people to their websites or papers. By failing to expose events that are of great interest to a large number of people, why will those potential readers bother to look at their output. With newspapers being in groups these days and their employees sharing news more and more, have we seen the end of proper investigative journalism?
Evening all. Just back from watching the mighty All Whites beat Tahiti 3-0 in a World Cup Qualifier. We are on our way to somewhere in Central or North America or the Carribean to play a play-off game to see who goes to Brazil, we shall not be moved. Doesn't really flow, which is appropriate given NZ's display this evening. We were awful; couldn't string two passes together; couldn't shoot straight. We could wind up the opposition, though, but that didn't take much. Brice Marmouyet was a right whinging Tahitian. I'd have sent him off. He kept wagging his finger at the ref whenever he disagreed with a decision. I sat next to the Aunt of Chris Wood, the Millwall player. Busy day tomorrow so I ought to go to bed.
You probably think their problems are exacerbated rather than exasperated. Exasperated is what I feel when I read stuff like this. I wonder how you would react if African mothers decided to tell you how to run your family life? They have as much right to children as anyone else and, for the record, there are many parts of Africa where population growth is the least of their worries.
I totally agree Theo - and culturally third world countries have always had more babies than the average as their mortality rates are higher and they have no old age pension so need younger relatives to help them in their old age. Now if we are going to start arguing about only having children if you can afford them we need look no further than our own benefit culture in the UK

afternoon all. Well said Theo, i concur. Rough day yesterday. My friend's scan results came back and they were not what we were hoping for. Sadly, the cancer has spread. There is now nothing they can do, except try and keep the pain levels down and to give her some kind of quality of life for however long she has......as she would say...hey ho. Funny, on the way back home after the results, i was listening to talksport...and suddenly...nothing seemed important and i couldn't be bothered to listen. That's a first...though having a reason to put things into perspective isn't sadly...but isn't it strange how one significant event can do that... Double hey ho.
Is anyone else bored with these internationals? There was a pointless game on Friday, and to some extent, so is tonight's game. England are in a competition that a few weeks ago even Steven Gerrard said would need a miracle for England to win. So we are in a competition we are not going to win and have done few memorable things in for 46 years. And to suffer these boring games, I have had no Watford game to see. Roll on Saturday.
