The anniversary of our last PL away win is fast approaching (19th November). Will we record our next before then? Will we win a home game before then?
I wonder if any premiership team has gone a year without an away win and survived, that is my concern....
Love that stadium, but dont hold your breath for the result.....!! Had a great night of Champions League footy there when my bruv won a Lucozade comp on Talk sport....Atmosphere is quiet but the stadium is amazing !! Please TF..Can we have one......?!!
To think that last year we'd managed THREE away wins by November... Everton, Wolves and Stoke - and with much the same sort of players! What happened after that to sour things? Warnock started getting silly and lost the dressing room as they say - and Hughes never really found it. Maybe we just need a map?!!
I'm going to Stoke like last year, it's a time I can get away from here, but also I'm going again because we won there last year, our last away win I think, so we will win this year too. Won't we??!
I think mostly we need a belief that we can win, and a go for it mentality. If we are going to start comparing again, if Colin was getting "silly", Hughes should have been put in a straight jacket a few games back now! Someone put up the team we had out when we won at Everton last season recently - apart from Adel and Ale I don't think one player is still featuring much today. The team that won there was a weakened Championship team at best. But we won there because we were lucky, but also because as normal with Colin we played with a belief we could win, and a go for it approach, even when we weren't playing pretty - as we did at Wolves and Stoke last season, though some of that was f*kkin beautiful as well. If Hughes could get that mentality into the palyers we may survive, but his continual use of Park and SWP, says it all - basically don't go for it, stop the other team playing, stay in shape, and maybe we'll pick somethihg up on the way. Don't cut it for me.
Don't we have as part of the 'backroom' crew a sports psychologist/ life coach team to help players focus on winning and help eradicate self doubt? If I were TF I would insist that MH had a few sessions and all.
Wouldn't do him any harm tbh! Problem is though, Hughes is a bit of a robot and lacks heart - the one thing Warnock did have - so it probably wouldn't have any effect on him. Fact is, good, effective prem managers need the whole works to get things moving in the right direction. Teams often reflect the character of their managers which is probably why we look smart enough, fitter and more agressive but detached and lacking in passion and adventure.
