At this stage whether you want hughes to stay or go, 3 points this weekend is the requirement

We all want that. Fail to get anything from the toffees or the arse and I think even Tone will be struggling to back him

I'll give TF the benefit of the doubt and say he's directing those comments at the vast number of journos who have sprung up in the recent weeks to have a dig at the club. He can't be that stupid to have a go at the fans. Or can he? If his intention is to create an us and them attitude, that'll be the end of him.

I'd forgotten TF is an accountant, public school boy too...

I was worried but now I'm beginning to panic!

Let's make no mistake though, provided what we see in him atm is all there is, Tony Fernandes is great - and potentially a perfect fit as owner of this ambitious little club of ours.

I say potentially, because in his current 'all things to all men' interactive mode, dangers abound. We're clearly young and tender in our development right now, so until we've carved out something a bit more solid for ourselves, best to keep schtum. He gave his public backing to Hughes weeks ago, so no need to keep repeating it. He, we and Hughes all know the score. If the results don't come (and why should they with such an unbalanced squad?) then the manager will be out on his ear well before the new year and the next window.

Best just get our contingencies in place for a soft landing, with a well picked management replacement and a very good idea of the right defender(s) and striker to go after in January. That's all we can do atm.

But if our Tone keeps himself in the media / twitter spotlight, fielding ever more impossible to answer criticisms, only one way to go. Mania. Fatigue. Loss of interest. Then what'll become of that long term development plan of ours? Binned like all the rest of them, that's what.

And none of us need that, do we?

Come on Tone, this is Hughesy's prob for now. Don't get too involved too soon mate.

I said as much many times and got shouted down for my trouble, but yep the "club" doesn't communicate when it should and says the wrong thing when it should keep quiet. Started before hughes though to be fair.

    Eggs and baskets TF?

If he went silent on us then all sorts of rumours would start and he never called anyone clueless.

According to a recent poll, Hughes has the majority backing (even if it's temporary and waning) so why should we expect TF to form a quick fix, reactionary opinion when he's spent the last 14 months building for a long term future.

He basically says that he gauges the feeling in the dressing room as his key to knowing if it's working or not. That atmosphere and forum is more telling than the fans so, in comparison, that makes even Mr 40 games a season appear on the periphery.

He's still doing it right IMO.

The eternal optimist in me still thinks that Hughes will get us going, and I'm still confident that he will. I realise that the evidence thus far is contrary to this opinion, but Hughes and his team will drill and re-drill his beliefs into this squad of players and will eventually get results. This will then nullify a lot of the current thinking displayed in the threads of late and confine them to history. Of that I am sure. TF is as much saying this, and when it does happen, like me, he won't be saying I told you so. COYRssss.
