So basically we're still going down the "bullying and cajoling" route then The stupid thing is...I actually thought we might try and do this the right way I honestly did. When will I ever learn?
It's sad that the council have resorted to doing that to the residents, someone said earlier that a £250m grant for the area was manipulated so that the residents aren't part of the equation. Considering LFC own a fair bit of the area around the ground they too will get the same deal per plot as the residents, i can see a legal fight ahead. I don't know exactly how many families will be affected but a goodwill gesture by the club wouldn't go amiss.
And the craziest thing is us the taxpayer will foot the bill for trying to kick our own out of their homes. I'm off to rip up my season ticket and I might just ram it down the throat of that so called "socialist" Lord Joe
Billy they do it all the time! "We want to build a supermarket here" Council response "Fine provided you pay for a new link road/ bridge.whatever". I'm sure that FSG and LFC were/are fully expecting that type of quid pro quo arrangement. Call it social responsibility if you want or merely the cost of doing business, it's just the same. As far as I can understand it, the stumbling block appears to be the type and level of 'social reperation' that the residents want and the type of redevelopment the council is prepared to fund.
the CPOs will be at least 10% above market value, if residents are found new homes/helped by the council and the council creates new estates nearby with priority to the ousted residents then this could all be amicable. There's no nice way to be turfed out your home, but that's got to be the best solution at least?
Problem is Dave our council don't do it anywhere near often enough. What assurances did our lovely council (last lot in fairness) get from LFC before giving them the park? **** all bar a guarantee of x numbers of parking spaces Drive a proper hard bargain our council mate
In glad we are staying but disappointed the whole football village idea seems to be lost? Give me some decent facilities to keep me in the area and you can have my money on match day!? Hell I'd turn up without a ticket if they got the atmosphere right???!
Problem with that though is market value is low around Anfield due to the years of permitted decay. Residents aren't soft, they know the areas been allowed to decline to keep land values low. They also know how much similar houses go for in other areas. There's just no logic to not making it worth their while. Delays cost both club in lost revenues and the council (i.e. me and you) in bloody lawyers fees.
http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/ian-ayre-reveals-stadium-plan basically all i can take from this is we've abandoned a new stadium idea. stanely park will never happen and the area lost some facilities there due to the messing about..... the rest are maybe this or we'll figure out that... hardly hard and firm plans at all. All gourps should push FSG and ayre VERY hard for a planned completion date, capacity etc etc... could take another 10 years and a fair wind i think.
Get real MITO. For once, listen to what Ayre said. He cannot put a date for or even a size until all of the processes have been completed. However, sufficient work has already been done for him to give assurances that we will continue to play at Anfield during the re-furbishment process. So he's saying that matchday receipts will grow but until all of the plans are approved and permissions given , he cannot speculate on a completion date.
Reading on the BBC that the club thinks match day revenue will increase from 41.000.000 to closer to 100.000.000 a season if the proposals go ahead? A 59 million pound increase seems like a bit of a stretch with 15.000 extra seats?
It would be a shame if it was all corporate seating - I understand the extra revenue it could bring in but having more 'normal' supporters will only intimidate the opposition further and improve the atmosphere.
