He hates Spurs and loves nothing more to underestimate us. I can't remember if it was Drogs, DL or both who thought Moses is a better winger than Lennon
The squads are close but Arsenal edge it for me. Spurs are quite clearly stronger on the flanks (both defensively and offensively) and in the GK positions but I think Arsenal are probably stronger elsewhere. Not much in it though. My best mate is a Gooner so I'll be going with him to the NLD and judge for myself. In order of midfields for me it goes 1. City 2. Chelsea 3. Arsenal 4. Spurs I will say that Dembele and Sandro for me are the best 2 DM's of their type in the league in that double pivot role I hate Arsenal as well YV so that argument is flawed. I'd never allow tribal bias to shroud judgement when it comes to Football. I do believe Moses is better than Lennon for the simple reason he has more end product. I've never seen any winger get the better of both Cole and Ivanovic in the way he did, he destroyed Arsenal and United last season as well.
Well I think it will be a very open game and despite all the hype I still think there will be goals. People said the same about our match against Arsenal earlier in the season and it ended up being a cracking game and this will be no different. I think it will be very interesting to see how your defense cope with the likes of Oscar, Hazard, Mata and Torres who are all on fine form. In the middle Ramires is playing very well as is Mikel tbh. They are both doing a great job. But if one of those weren't to start then Lamps will come in and he has also been banging in the goals. at the back Cech has been immense and A.Cole has been as well. At the centre it will be two of Terry/Luiz/Cahill but I'm not sure JT will be allowed to play. If that is the case then Luiz and Cahill look solid. Ivanovic has been bombing down the right wing and getting some good goals. But he can be found wanting at the back and that is our weak link. Spurs have been doing well and to come away with a 3-2 win from Old Trafford is exceptional. Your attacking threat will help create an open game due to the philosophies of AVB and RDM. However due to the above points I can't see us not taking at least a point. Both teams are full of confidence but I think our attack may be just too much for the Spurs defense. That said I hope it is a cracking game with an incredible atmosphere. I can't wait for it that's for sure!
Also for the game next week, is it best to drink at Liverpool Street and then train it to White Hart Lane (via police escort or not... I'm not too sure) or is it best to drink elsewhere and make your own way to the game via Seven Sisters?
We are a far stronger team that Arsenal, something we should have hammered home last season, instead of Harry being carried away with his own publicity, ahead of the announcement for the England job. AVB is already showing that he won't make the same mistakes for us, this season.
This is brilliant http://www.tottenhamhotspurs.tv/for...hotspur-vs-chelsea-official-match-thread.html The 4th comment is pure Gold We "haven't played a club of their level yet". Nope only City, Arsenal, Newcastle, Atletico Madrid and Juventus Also we "lack width". Despite having Moses, Hazard, Marin, Sturridge, Bertrand etc who can all play there. All clubs have fans like this but the myopia is incredible from that one particular guy.
Bucks Blue Not a wind up, an honest answer to your question earlier. The pubs round Tottenham are not very friendly to away fans- or home fans to be honest!! Unlike your place, there aren't many decent pubs in Tottenham!! You'd be better off grabbing a pint at Liverpool St then catching a train to Northumberland Park, it's only 5 minutes walk to the away end and you avoid the high road. Enjoy the game, but hopefully not too much.
Christ Bucks Blue, you aren't weren't seriously thinking about drinking up there were you? The only place with pubs more partisan than at Chelsea (that I know of) is West Ham/Spurs. Especially when it's a derby i.e Spurs vs any one from West Ham/Chelsea/Arsenal is a no go for away fans. As Junction said mate, don't drink there. Your best bet is Liverpool Strt (As Junction said) or just getting a drink near Stamford Bridge. Jump on tube, go to Victoria, then Seven Sisters (15 mins journey time) and then it's a 20 minute walk door to door from Seven Sisters to WHL. All in all it's easily doable in an hour but don't drink within 2-3 miles of WHL
DL, I've always found it ok over your place for a pint, before and after the game. I think it depends on being sensible and not wearing colours (I'm far too old to wear shirts etc!). I do a lot of away games and most places are good for a pint for away fans. Again it depends on how sensible we are! We tend to avoid pubs full of our fans away, too much hassle getting served at the bar! Are you going to the lane Saturday?
All clubs do, indeed, DL. Spurs fans tend to be fairly well balanced, but occasionally the odd numpty gets through the net of delusion. Neither of our two clubs are any where near as bad as the Mousers, thank god!
Hey Junction hope you are well. Yeah generally Earls Court Road upwards is accommodating to away fans. Nowhere on Fulham Road though. My best experiences at football have been away games up North. The people are so friendly. I remember on the way to Sunderland away a Newcastle fan we were talking to was going to show us around town etc and the only reason she didn't was because she had a relative's birthday (Mum I think) or something. Generally the pubs/bars up North are brilliant. I'm going on Saturday but have to go on my own as my mate couldn't go. Will be coming back down to London Friday Night. Are you going? You'd like RAWK Meltdown HIAG. Not sure if you have Twitter but even if you don't just type it in - @RAWKMeltdown I don't know enough or any genuine Liverpool fans to pass judgement but what you read on sites is scary viewing.
DL, Agree with it being friendlier up north although a couple of places up there can be iffy though- burnley and Leeds spring to mind! Best away trips are the weekend trips to Newcastle, both Manchester clubs and Liverpool- stay in Chester for that one which is a top night out. I'll be there on Saturday, had a ST for years. This is 1 of 4 games that id not miss- others being away to you lot and the goons home & away Looking forward to it, on paper it's set up for a good game. How much are we charging you for this one? The goons are charging £64 for us next month.
Yeh I don't think I was ever going to drink near the ground tbh. I doubt I'll wear my replica shirt as well which is a rarity for me but Tottenham away is a nasty place to go I think we'll drink in Liverpool Street Station... probably the Railway . Worth the police escort? I don't think so. It normally gets to the ground just before kick off not giving you enough time to soak up the atmosphere.
No mate I don't think I was really going to consider that! Where you gunna be drinking? I think we'll go to the Railway Tavern in Liverpool Street as been told it's a good one before Spurs away. Will probably avoid the police escort as well!
You're charging us £48 for a ticket. I went to QPR and they charged £50... went to the Emirates and it was £62 or £64 so this is cheaper. I can't wait. For us Chelsea supporters I would say that Spurs away is the biggest game of the season. The atmosphere will be electric imo even for an early kick off. I plan on doing every away game this season so will get a good feel of the best places to go on an away day. Only been to WHL once and it was for the 1-1 when Drogba missed a last minute penalty. But we were running very late and missed the first 5 mins. This time me and my mate will have a few pints at Liverpool Street, make our way to the ground and have some good banter with you lads and lasses in and outside the ground before and after kick off. I can't wait. Already buzzing and I know everyone else is too!
Prediction: Tottenham 1-3 Chelsea Dembele 19 Torres 37,79,88 Attendance: 35,888 I think Chelsea will just have more spark to be honest and although they'll go behind first I just feel like Chelsea and particularly the likes of Hazard,Mata, Oscar and Torres are on fire at the moment. But I'm a bit bais as a CFC fan. And this is only a prediction. I think Tottenham will be a real threat with Lennon and Bale(Ferdinand got ripped apart by the pace of these 2 at OT)
Leeds and Burnley seem like a no no to be fair, might have to drink somewhere more local if I ever do those Junction yeah I'm the same. There are 4 games in a season I will not miss: Spurs Home Spurs Away West Ham Away Arsenal Home I didn't do Arsenal away this year partly due to the price and travel etc brings it up to £100 for me. The Goons charged us £64 as well. My best mate is a Gooner though so for some stupid reason I said I'd go with him to the NLD Feel a bit bad missing out on WBA away for Chelsea but my other mate I go with couldn't go anyway. The Hawthorns is walking distance for me. Spurs are charging us £48 Lower Tier and £53 Upper Tier. Given what we charge you that's more than reasonable IMO. I think one more price hike and I might not be able to afford London aways
Games not to miss for me are West Ham away, Spurs away, WBA away and Spurs at home... You should have said about WBA as I had a spare for the game but a mate has claimed it... we are coming round to yours though for pre match drinks
You do lack width in the way you play. It's not saying youdon't have players who can play out wide but the 3 you have behind the striker don't tend to be getting much chalk on their boots. Your fullbacks help with bringing some width but if they're up against Bale and Lennon they'll be foolish to spend the game bombing up the pitch. I wouldn't be surprised to see a change in your style for this game, RDM will remember the hiding you got against Madrid trying to play your own way against a quick team who will look to counter. If RDM's smart he'll play Bertrand infront of Cole, Lennon's the real form winger at the moment and Bale usually struggles after international breaks because he spends it carrying 10 other Welshmen around for 180 minutes.
