There have already been events in this fledgeling season back at the top level that the club and its' supporters can be proud of. Firstly, there are the performances that led to us leading against both of the Manchester giants late in the game. Secondly, the acknowledgement from the football media (even Lawro!) that we are a good footballing side that plays the game in the right way. Lastly, is the promotion to the full England squad of our own Adam Lallana to join other academy products, Chambo and Theo.
I will always remember the night we drew with Leyton Orient to gain promotion to the old Division One. I nearly got lynched when we scored but after the O's equalized it was a great party atmosphere.
Schneiderlin's goal against Man Utd. I know we lost the game, but to not drop our heads after they equalised and to score another showed a great team spirit from the team. The atmosphere was amazing.
That Sheffield UTD brings brings tears to the eyes, I remember the ecstasy of Stern John's winner and the pitch invasion, the JPT has to be my favourite day out as a Saonts fan ever, Jose Fonte's winner vs Brighton was amazing as well.
Watching that Pahars goal against Jaap ... It's hard to recall now, even after a fairly brief time, just how good the Big Dutchman was. So to make him look such a complete idiot was an amazing piece of skill. Channon, of course, is my life long hero, but Marian will always have a place in my Saints heart! What a player.
Yes it's a shame he was so unlucky with injuries. Seems to be common amongst players of his ilk, Defoe etc. Stresses of the modern game I guess. Don't recall Moran for example being injured as often.
I have a bit of Latvian in me, 1/4 to be precise, so I'm extra proud of our Marian. Hope he wins the league with Skonto Riga, but it looks unlikely this time around.
