I forgot the Vikings. My point was that if you're weak, you'll get targeted. Britain was a soft touch for over a millennium, then we toughened up. Flexing our muscles abroad on a regular basis over the last few centuries reminds people that we're not to be stepped on. It might not be nice, but it's the way of the world.
