I'm going to be biased and give it to Dan. 21st to 9th and beating his teammate for the majority of it was a great thrill to watch.
I'm biased but I the only thing I really enjoyed in the race was the battle between Lewis and Kimi, not for the first time this season both fought hard but gave each other the necessary room so that neither got taken out
I think Hulkenberg, not only for that amazing overtake but also a strong 6th place finish. He's turning into a very good driver
It all goes down to the track. It doesnt seem to know what it wants to be. It has a couple of long straights, then a high downforce/high speed section, then a street circuit section. It doesnt make any sense what-so-ever, and the end result is a sorry excuse for an F1 track. The longer straight in my opinion needs to be wider, there was way too much crowding at the first lap, and I think that ultimately led to Kamui hitting Jensen. There wasn't enough track to claim to make sure they got round turn 3 in one piece. Also I think turn 5 should be be scraped. The 4/5/6 sequence of corners is abysmal and just adds to lack of flow in the circuit
Mine goes to Felipe Massa, for being told to slow down to avoid passing Alonso. Good to see he's got his mojo back.
On the commentary they said the reason for the 'street circuit' feel was so that they could build all around the track, turning it into a huge complex, basically build a city around it. 3 years is it we've been going there now? Absolutely no evidence it's going to ever happen. It's only ever used for F1, and the random support race that goes with it, but that's it. 362 days a year it's unused.
For me, apart from Vettel's complete domination of the event (his Qualifying was a surprising low-point), there were a few things which stood out: Although ultimately futile, Hamilton's determination to battle on with a very compromised car showed some us great action – especially his valiant fight with Räikkönen. The carpet incident added a poetic insult to an already injured car. Massa showed us what he used to do more often. I was very happy for him when he made the crystal clear point that he was quicker than Alonso. I hope he allowed himself a little Champers later. Well done Felipé. Schumacher. He fought well and showed some real spirit. Grosjean. It was blatantly obvious he just wanted to stay out of everyone's way; but he managed it! So, congratulations to him too.
Probably that it ended honestly, its a pretty lame excuse for an F1 circuit. Happy for Massa for getting some of his groove back and driving well, and props to Hulk for an outstanding double overtake. As i said in another thread, his stock rose with me this weekend because of his driving out there.
