Last season we ended up with 47 points. Stan James has betting on whether we'll get 41 or less compared to 42 or more. Odds on favorite is that we'll get 41 or less points. That suggests we'll be battling relegation. What do you think? I'll go with 45-50 points for this season.
Last season we beat Man City, Arsenal & Liverpool at home. We probably won't repeat all those wins, and would do well to again draw with Chelsea & Spurs. To equal last season's total, we will have to outdo what we did in some other fixtures. Yes we beat QPR, but have lost that gain by losing at Villa. So we will need to beat Wigan, Norwich & Newcastle at home - an 8 point improvement. I think we will be ok, but suspect we will get 40 - 42 points. As Dai said "enough" !
From what ive seen you need 3 defenders and a central midfielder with a bit of steel. 35. Just ahead of Southampton and Reading with Norwich miles behind.
Fair point. Just think Hughes will get sacked. Maybe Redknapp in and a climb out of danger. They could go down though.
After QPR got 2 points from their first 5 or 6 games, I remember reading that of the last 7 teams that made a similar start to the season, only 2 ended up getting relegated. I think it's better if the bad run comes at the beginning because you have time to fix the problems. If it comes near the end of the season, then it's too late. So they will probably sack Hughes soon, and then the new manager will have a chance of turning things around.
qpr are going down with norwich and southampton...We will struggle to get anywhere near our points total of last season but will just scrape through with one or two more points than the ones mentioned, I will be happy with that as things stand.....
45+ We will struggle at times but will finish the season well as all the new faces bed in. We will get some points from those of the top teams who let us play our game but we need to sign at least 2 new defenders and a strong Patrick Viera type central midfielder in the January window if we are going to get anything at all out of teams like Everton, Newcastle, Stoke, Villa etc.
Defenders is the key to how we will do this season. Im hoping something will happen in January to strengthen our defense but until then we must keep picking up more points than the bottom 3 teams and not drop 2 points at home to teams below us like the Reading game...The next big test for us will be on the 27th i think it is against Man City at home...I would love to get something from that game....
Kemy might be the muscle we need in midfield and it would be good to get him back to give us options. I wonder if Dwight Tiendalli could be given a run in midfield to see how he shapes? He's experienced, athletic and eager to prove himself. He might not fit our passing patterns but he could do a midfield dog/disruptive role there if that's what we are looking for. Save us a few quid if either of those can step up leaving us to spend on the centre back position. Got a gut feeling that Ash will be off in January.
