Haven't anything against Celtic, my uncle lives in Glasgow and supports them. Great win at CSKA, only person I don't like is Lennon he comes across as a moany bastard. Other then that they're fine, even look out for their results every weekend. Good luck with the rest of the season <ok>.

Events of the last 6 months or so have proven that the other Scottish clubs can survive without the Old Firm. In the 80's when we were both struggling for money and crowds, the likes of Aberdeen and Dundee United were challenging for European honours.

And to the nutjob comparing english championship sides. The bit you forget, is that if you took for example the club you used - Bolton - out of England, and placed them in any other league they would be on the verge of going bust, due to the vast drop in income. The flip side of most Scottish people's argument is that if you gave Celtic and Rangers an extra £40million a year, and added in glory fixtures against the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal etc they would be capable of not just surviving, but doing quite well. Personally, I think similar to a club of Liverpool and Everton's performance.

And as for the original point, Charles Green will say anything to get deluded Rangers fans to purchase the shares, so I wouldn't read too much into the nonsense he spouts.

I don't know why anyone bothered to respond to this crap. Green's financial logic as to why his club would benefit Europe's top clubs if some super league was formed is as flawed as the financial acumen that got Rangers into a financial mess in the first place.

If Europe's top clubs thought that for one moment there was some super financial advantage in playing Rangers regularly then they would have supported that idea before. As it is they know that neither Celtic or Rangers would enhance any league outside of Scotland and indeed they are all only too aware that the damage inflicted by a bunch Rangers supporting Jocks is the last thing you want anywhere near your city. Just ask the citizens of Manchester.

I would suggest the best thing to do is to leave the two Glasgow clubs to rot in the SPL and to let them keep their sectarian nastiness in their own city.

So the mighty Scots' national team gets destroyed by a graduate of little old insignificant Southampton's Academy.

Lets hope that twat Alex Salmond gets his way and the Scots get full independence. I am sick to death of my taxes subsidising that bunch of obese, out of work benefit scroungers.

Never understood why Scottish people are so proud to be Scottish. Who would want to be part of a small country in the corner of Europe that has always been in England's shadow??

Nobody wants Rangers and Celtic to play in the PL because of all your hooligans.

You need a job before you pay taxes and if you have a job it has to earn you over something like 10 grand before you pay taxes, but I admire your optimism.

    Where have you been son?

The rest of have been up and about all morning. No doubt you are still in your underpants and string vest.

What does your misses think of you sleeping in you socks every night?

What is it like mate having a great big inferiority complex?

To this day I am perplexed as to why Edward I stopped killing you lot. He would have done the world a hell of a favour if he had finished the lot of you off.

Agree. Despite the fact that travel costs and lack of interest in the opposition will result in less atmosphere and maybe attendances this is where we'll end up. I'm a mean bastard, and I'm sure according to some not a real fan, but when Saints are on TV away the pub does beckon! So a trip to Bulgaria on a cold Tues evening is not going tick my box. That man Green is a disgrace to the surname.

Danny Fox played for my team, Celtic, not Rangers. And he was ****ing useless. Much like Hooiveld. Hence them not being there any more. <ok>

As for Gareth Bale - he's undoubtedly a great player, playing for a big club. It happens quite often actually: good players tend to move from small clubs to bigger clubs, and poor players tend to move to smaller clubs. <ok>

Definitely a fact. I'd be interested to know how many of the Scots on here actually support this whole independence thing.

This whole thread is an absolute piss take.

It just reads like yet again Celtic & Rangers fans have come on to the saints board saying "we're a bigger / better club than you blah blah blah." Which has then turned into a "my stadium is bigger than your stadium / my dad is bigger than your dad."

Rangers officials should worry more about the state of their club than belittling other teams that have earned their way into one of the largest leagues in the world. It is just jealousy and bitterness.
What the arsehole from the original article fails to realise is that fans of big clubs don't care whether they are playing against Celtic, Rangers, Southampton or Swansea. Fans will support their teams against whoever, regardless of the opposition. I was just as happy to pay for my season ticket against Yeovil, Exeter etc. as I am to watch City & United. It's about my team, not the opposition.

For what it's worth, I don't think Celtic would be a shoo-in for automatic promotion from the championship. You scottish fans seriously over-rate your own clubs.

It's a shame to break up the Union after centuries of joint endeavour...will probably not happen now as close examination of the facts reveal that such a break would be in England's favour. I like the concept of GB.
