Very subjective all this. Depends whether you're after the ale or the eye candy. Rarely do the two collide, in my experience!
Where's the eye candy in those!? Besides, what's subjective about my personal top choices!? Karma cafe and Delaneys are the younger ones, but as he's starting in the Wig and Pen I'm guessing eye candy is a miss... Besides, there's plenty of strip clubs nearby if that's what you want
I wasn't disputing anything you said. I merely suggested that if he and his mates were after a decent pint of ale (which many casual visitors to our fine city do) rather than 'trendy' bars, there are alternatives to those on your list. That is all.
I wouldn't really class many of those as trendy bars, Adam & Eve and Belgium Monk and the Kings, "trendy"?
The Adam and Eve is about as far away from trendy as you can get don't know about the quality of the beer though as I don't drink anymore
As you're in the area try the Kings Head on Magdelene St for a decent pint of ale (it's just down the road from the Lawyer and you could do them both on the way up to Delaneys and the Belgian Monk). If you're looking for late night fodder I can recommend the Ali Tandoori on the same street - old school but top-notch ruby. Enjoys the delights of our fair city - we're quite a welcoming bunch really.
I best not recommend anything as my intentions when drinking in norwich, as I am a student, is to get drunk. So i tend to to do the bell, queen of the iceni and lola los. But do go into the murderers wearing your ipswich shirt!
I imagine that Guru is a man of sufficient means not to have to resort to Wetherspoons finest (not that there is anything wrong with a cheap bevvie) and can afford to visit the more unique hostelries.
Hey Guru... If ever you are up in Cambridge I will take you for a tour of the many great pubs in the City Centre! I might even invite Maestro as I know how much he likes it in Cambridge..
plenty of good ale houses in norwich, it's one of the best bits of the city. and i mean places to get a nice pint not totty bars. always enjoyed on my infrequent visit to the city (in no particular order) the murderers, coach and horses, duke of wellington (sprowston rd?), the fat cat, red lion and (would you) adam and eve (it) in terms of ropey pubs Guru, don't try the artichoke on magdalen st
I haven't been allowed into the metropolis in the evenings for some time now, other than to the theatre. Can you still get a decent pint of Watneys Red Barrel for 20P?
Hey JWM I work quite a lot in Cambridge on the science park for a large Pharmaceutical company called NAPPS. Do you know of it?
Yes mate, I used to work for the Cambridge Evening News based in Milton and I went out with a girl who worked for NAPPS! Small world eh?
