and Zidane, although fantastic, was never at Messis level. Probably just a bit of nostalgia has people ranking him higher. Brazilian Ronaldo in his pomp was better than Zidane and could well have been better than Messi if his knees were able to handle the speed of his flicks and leg movements

Are you ****ting me? Zidane unbelievable, on the ball, off the ball, in the air. His ball striking was unreal, his vision the same, Messi doesn't come close to Zidane. The Ronaldo is the greatest forward ever, his world cup record shows that. Had he been fit, he'd have had 20 at WC finals.
Personally I prefer Ronaldo, although Messi has his points. I don't like when people say Ronaldo dives, Messi, in fact all of the Barca team, dive just as much.
Rivaldo very overrated imo, same as R Carlos and Denilson of that generation. Could never understand the hype. And Zidane, did he even get half of 70 goals in a season. Messi doesn't come close, please. Messi is about to top the list of greatest of all time. Zidane would be scraping to get in the top 5
No, but he often played CM... not like Messi who can do what he wants due to the players around him. Put messi in a bog standard team you'll get nothing from him. Zidane would provide much, much more.
Messi is a diffrent player to Zidane. Messi is the greatest player of this generation. Where as Zidane was the greatest of his. Roberto Carlos wasn't over hyped he was just a very attack minded defender. Him and Cafu destroyed teams doing that for years in there prime.
Zidane was better than Messi, in my opinion anyway. Zidane didn't have a lot of pace, but he just glided past players with his amazing skill and technique, although Messi has skill and technique he doesn't have as much as Zizou had and the only thing that Messi has got that Zizou hasn't is pace. No, Messi isn't in the top 10 for me I'm afraid. Zidane was twice the player Messi will ever be. Messi has yet to play against Stoke on a cold tuesday night...
C.Ronaldo and Messi are both absolute quality, not gonna pick one over the other. It's like arguing between sex or a blow-job. Different moods dictate etc., but no way is either one inherently better in every department. What I will say is, C.Ronaldo has done the business in the two best leagues, Messi only one. Ha ha, I think this is me just desperately bitter that Messi will never come to Prem.

Messi only got the 2 this weekend after another crap performance for Argentina. Whereas despite a world class performance Ronaldo's Portugal couldn't score in a 1-0 loss to Russia
Ronaldo is probably a better player in my opinion but strikes me as a complete greaseball horrible **** of a person, Messi is fantastic as a player and seems quite a nice grounded bloke.... If given the choice I would have Messi, he won't dive lose his cool or get sent off.. Also does he ever get injured?.....
In all honesty not too much to choose between them........Personality wise I think it would definitely go to Messi ....so for me Messi would get my vote because of this.
Fact is Messi has proved himself over several seasons. I think Ronaldo still has some way to go to match him.
