  1. Just reading the chronichle, and there's a few quotes from Kevin Nolan.

He says that he wants to be remembered for more than just scoring a hatrick on derby day, and as "a decent player that scored alot of goals".

I don't think he has to worry. He's already a ****ing legend. He's the best captain we've had since wor Alan, he's been the backbone in the squad, and has definitely put in a vital share of goals into the cause. Him and Barton together cost just over 10 million and have given us so much more than that back!

Kevin Nolan = Super special awesome ultra special sexy toon legend!

As good as he's been in some games, in 10 years time, I will remember him for the hat-trick rather than anything else I imagine.
Still love him though :D He could retire now and still be a legend.

Hatrick will be out fondest memory but it's great to see he's got an attitude where he wants to be remembered

I'll remember him for all the graft and gritty performances he's put in. Great player and leader.

This. Average player though in general IMO. ''Decent'' is the right way to classify him. Without the goals he's average. <ok>

His stare at the keeper for free kicks?

  10. That's like saying without goals, Darren Bent is an average player...

Nolan's aggression plays a part in winning back possession. He can tackle well and wrestle the ball back, and his passing is generally good. He leadership is priceless, and without him, we rarely look like we have any fighting spirit.

He adds strength, vision and attacking sting, and also goals. He lacks the agility that the other midfielders have, but makes up for it.

Darren Bent wouldn't even be a proffessional football player if he didn't have the striker instinct that lets him be in the right places at the right time to score.

But still, i doubt anyone would say no to a transfer.

Nolans main use is goals, and who cares if he'd be less of a player if he didn't have that ability?

What an absolute load of tosh that is, Darren Bent is a STRIKER his main priority is to score goals, he can go onto the pitch and not do anything else aslong as he scores goals and everyone is happy because thats what he does, Nolans primary goal is to be good in midfield and at this, he is distinctly average.

Dont get me wrong I love the guy and he does occasionally have above average performances in CM, he is a fantastic leader and we wouldnt be where we are without his presence and his goals.

I call it how I see it. And thats my opinion.

You can still be a midfielder and have your main priority be goalscoring.

In a 442 where Nolan is a CM, the game more often than not passes him by
In a 5 man midfield in any formation, Nolan is a lot more effective as he has less to do defensively and so less running/tracking back/following his man and so his main attributes tends to shine through.

    442 - average at best
    5 man midfield - quality

Nolan is a legend, and the whole debate about him being average in midfield is carp. He's there to score goals, and he gets played out of position as we've seen when carroll was about he's much better playing off the striker. It's like saying if you play Barton in goal he is a very average goalkeeper.

He's gone down in Toon history for that hattrick. He will be forever remembered for it, sorry Kevin.

I'll remember him for being a proper pro. I always wanted to win a trophy when Shearer was here, almost FOR Shearer, so he could say he won something with us, and it's the same with Nolan. If you offered me an F.A. Cup win next year where he led us out or the treble the season after he retired, I'd choose the F.A. Cup
