Those four teams have earned their right to be in the CL because they're representing poor footballing nations, which incidentally is the same reason that Celtic and Rangers qualify. If, say, Bolton were playing in the Latvian first division, there's a very good chance they would qualify for the CL. They wouldn't get to the latter stages, of course not, but tell me, how often do Celtic and Rangers make it that far?

You're trying to convince yourselves that the CL is made up of Europe's elite so that you can claim that your own team is part of that elite, but to the best teams in Europe, you guys are little more than fodder. The truth is that every country in Europe has to be represented, no matter how crap, so you get crap teams in the CL.

You're undeservedly arrogant. You play ****e teams all year round, and then you very rarely impress in Europe. I have seen very little evidence that your team is noticeably better than a Championship team.

To be fair, you've just described Southampton's place in the EPL pecking order. <ok>

That's YOUR opinion though. Others may well say that they are the Champions of their respective leagues and no matter how small, large, rich or poor they are, they have EARNED the opportunity to do so, and go in heads held high, to play the cream of European Clubs (Celtic included) for exciting European nights whist diddy teams, like your lot, spend their time signing ex Old Firm players in the hope they can keep you in the EPL.

Anyway, your comments are no better than Chuckie Green's today: completely devoid of any sense.

And it is YOU who is the arrogant fandan, with all your pontificating about who deserves to be where and why, and halfbaked claims that Celtic and Rangers represent poor footballing nations etc. I merely called you out on a ****ing ******ed point and for the past 4 replies you've shirked the simple fact that you made a stupid comment and it was proven so. Now you've just spent the past hour trying to back it up using PERSONAL OPINION, you know, by saying "I THINK their squad is at Championship level".

Simple point is this: our arrogance is borne out of success. Yours is borne out of money and playing in a league you won't ever win, aiming for 2 European competitions you won't ever enter, whilst avoiding the one thing that will become inevitable: RELEGATION <ok>

Finally, after 2 games we're second in our group which has Barca, Spartak and Benfica. You're a complete moron if you think Leeds, or any of those other DOMESTIC FODDER you named, could hold their own in the CL, but i suspect you'll confirm this.

    GIRFUY.

Right, well I'm no good at golf, but I reckon if I played a game against a golden retreiver, I'd probably win. Would you then call that success?

Let's say Celtic and Bolton switched positions. Bolton would likely win the SPL and qualify for the CL. You might promote from the Championship, but it'll be a challenge (and far more of a success story than winning the SPL, by the way). I'm not saying Bolton are as good as Celtic, they probably aren't, but if you put them in Celtic's position, they'd probably qualify for the CL and they'd probably be able to beat most of the teams that Celtic can beat. Then they'd get trounced by an actual good team like Barcelona, just as Celtic would.

I don't know how to debate that. Saints are fodder for teams like Man Utd, Arsenal and so on. We're right up against it and will be happy to survive.

Thanks for saying I'm funny. I try.

So, you're saying, in current terms, that Botlon could go to Moscow and beat Spartak in a CL game...?

Hmm Sorry Joe, I don't buy it, and i don't buy that you could beat a Golden Retreiver at golf either.

If Bolton were in the SPL they'd die. They have awful debt - they ouldn't last a season. So no, they wouldn't win the SPL. Only time they had a full house last year was to wave to Fabrice.

Celtic though, would walk the Championship and probably have wrapped up the EPL within 5 years of promotion.

But that's just my PERSONAL OPINION. I won't now use madcap analogies to try and substantiate it.

Rubbish. Celtic would never get near the top of the EPL. At least 12 PL teams are better than Celtic. If Celtic were in the EPL now, they would be fighting relegation.

Listen, let's just enjoy the fact that you have the Greatest Goalie In The Entire World After England's Current Number 3, The Holy Goalie Who Hates The Huns, Artur Boruc.

It's enough to make me have a soft spot for your lot <ok>

They'd lose at Spartak 9 times out of 10, but so would Celtic. There's a reason Celtic fans were so ecstatic about that result. Remind me: how do your away trips in Europe usually turn out?

It's mad to suggest that Celtic could ever win the EPL, and even more mad to suggest they could walk the Championship. There's not a team in the world that could "walk" that division.

Oooooh Joe, put your claws away!

You've got to be in it to win it though, but you'd not have much idea about that.

Yeah, that Away record was awful. Really, really bad and it affected our Away form for several seasons in both the Europa League/UEFA Cup and the CL, but hopefully that's it laid to rest for a short while - at least until we grace the Nou Camp on Matchday 3 <ok>

It's not that mad. You have to take in to account the sheer size of Celtic's fanbase, the fact the club has explored INCREASING the stadium capacity in the past (as have Rangers). It already sits at 60,000 and that's with us in a **** league.
So, use that fantastical mind of yours, and just imagine IF Celtic had the money from the TV revenue, from the MASSIVELY increased merchandise (which is already Top 15 as mentioned by Biggus), from our already MASSIVE worldwide fanbase, iagine the exposure, imagine ALL the Plastic Paddys jumping aboard.....could go on and on, but you get my point. Obviously it's not a given, but it's just my opinion.

So aye, we'd win the EPL then the CL, whilst winning the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. We'd then start an Interplanetary Universe League, which we'd win too, before laughing at Southampton, who'd be renamed Pompey With Pocket Money FC and they'd play in the SPL with Bolton. At the same time Leeds would be playing well in the CL and Club Cluj would struggle in the EPL. So we'd BOTH be right.

I'm bored of you ****s now. Time for the pub, enjoy your weekend getting pumped aff San Marino <laugh>

The whole debate seems to have turned a tad......to almost a debate of the Scottish against the English. Nobody has Won that argument in over 250 years....<laugh>
One question I would like to ask you Scottish supporters....is......You give the impression that you only care what happens to either of the two biggest clubs......Rangers or Celtic. If they do ever form an elite league which has been suggested, mainly for the so called bigger clubs. In Scotland's case in particular the vast majority of the other teams would go out of existence. Not all granted but the vast majority. Does that not bother you?
If the largest teams in England went into such a league we would lose quite a few too but not on the scale of Scotland. Would that not be a fair assumption?
