Such a shame Kyle Bartley got injured as I reckon he could be really decent and will build a good partnership with Ash.
I said that in the close season ,never mind not signing Siggy ,I felt it was more important to strengthen the defence
Not sure what to make of Ash's interview. The guy is not used to this sort of thing, but having just watched the video on BBC's website, he was smiling when asked the question about the Mail report and acted like he expected it to be asked and was somewhat sheepish about it. He appeared to be aware of the report. Not what I expected at all. Certainly no indignation. I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't colluded with the reporter on the report - nothing to back it up - just my gut reaction after watching the video.
Chico has made his mistakes and will make more until he gets tuned in to the requirements of the PL. But Laudrup has faith in him because he signed him so the ability should be there. Chico will have come up against better players in La Liga, such as Messi & co and Ronaldo etc than he will meet in the Premier League and appears to have held his own. I think he will come good. He is learning with every game and, once he develops a proper understanding with Ash, I believe our defence will be considerably stronger. Also, let's not forget the language barrier. Ash and Caulker could have a chat during training and sort things out. Not so easy with Chico. Give them time and they will sort it. That said, however, we are too thin on the ground for defensive cover. Bartley's return will help that but we need more and I've got to say that I'm disappointed that Situ hasn't broken through the way we had all hoped.
We did, but he'd played his previous 2 seasons on loan in the Spanish top flight....Genoa didn't fancy him. I think he's going to prove up to the job.

I think I've been saying that every pre-season for the last 4. I've come to the conclusion that solid defenders are much sought after and don't come cheap.

He was on loan to Mallorca. I saw him play against Real Madrid last Jan. He did fine in a 2-1 loss featuring all the main forwards - Ronaldo, Higuaine, Bessema

I think Casual has returned as Black Swan, Breezy. His post on this thread reminds me of Casual's posts at times - a sort of subtle wind up. I don't think there is any chance that ML will be leaving us just yet but reading his post it did have me worried for a minute...

I think chico will do ok when given a bit of time, his sending off set him back a little bit IMO. Actually there are alot of new faces that need blending in, im suprised we have as many points as we do considering the upheaval of the last few months
