So going down if there is contact, despite being able to stay on your feet, is acceptable now?

Apologies - cheating in one competition is allowed and moral.

Eric that's the problem. The way the Evra affair was initiated: in the press and with incorrect & much more serious wording put LFC & Suarez on a defensive course (denying the accusation initially made because of the accusations wording) they found difficult to step back from & so it became an ever decreasing circle of attacks vs more desperate response. This is the main reason I personally don't like Evra.

If he had been accurate in his accusations & had not done it through the media (and I think his actions & mis wording/exaggeration of terms used were a very deliberate attempt to get attention to the story). I believe that either LFC & Suarez would have been quicker to hold his hands up, say Yes! I used that word & the FA could have handed out a punishment we as fans (even if we believe the Suarez cultural defence )can say was necessary. Would I have used the particular strategy LFC ended up using?, no, a smarter group like say Fergie would have told Suarez, say absolutely nothing except to deny everything and this story will die. You know it & I know it because he's already used that technique. Liverpool were too Naive in their attempts to be honest.

If it had been handled like that then if LFC had pursued the same tactics as they did I would have found them wholely unreasonable & said so.

So in my opinion, your club holds a part of the responsibility in how this played out & the fall out since as much as ours. Everything since has been a media toy reliant on bitter rival fans lapping it up. And yes it's just like with Ronaldo, or Eric himself

Which is why I point to my previous comments. All of these issues have been around since before the premiership & no organisation has tried to really solve them. Why?

    any news is good news.

Don't for One minute believe a line like "bad day for football" really? Being talked about on the front pages again? Adding intrigue & pantomime, heroes & villains to what is largely an entertainment source? Yeah you can see why all these multi million pound organisations, clubs, players, sports journo's, editorial hacks and special interest groups would really like football to be cleaned up once & for all & it return to being merely another sporting contest....

King Eric doing his best to make a balanced comment, and UIR undermining him by flatly refusing to accept LFC might in any way be being treated a little unfairly.
    Business as usual.

FYI smuggerton. According to the best ref to ever grace the pitch. Players have the right to go down if there is contact.

If no contact then the ref must do something.

For all the folk finding it hard to understand. You just cant prove how much contact there was. So contact then interpretation then decision by ref is where we're at and it's inconsistent.

I am not against Bans for divers where there is no contact but I am also for bans for referees who fail to do their job week in week out

So what are you talking about in the other thread then ???

Fergie says go down under contact - You slate him for saying this. Then you come on another thread and defend players going down under contact.

    Make your mind up.

Yes. But take Bale for instance; other than the odd dive he is the model professional on and off the pitch. Suarez isn't hence why he gets more focus.

I don't agree you often, but the second half of this post is pretty much spot on.

I wasn't aware he had been vilified for activities off the pitch. Would you care to enlighten us?

Funny thing is UIR you get all your info about Utd 2nd hand via tv, papers, internet and 'books' and you only believe the positives and that is desperate.

Stam went up in my estimation when he openly admitted he was tapped up by Fergie while still under contract and this new revelation should now keep the old codger from Old Trafford quiet on the subject for a while.

    Undermining him? <laugh>

Liverpool and Suarez are not being treated unfairly. **** sake grow a pair. Nobelex summed many of you up with 2 posts in the Stoke/pulis thread further down. Act like fannies ( that includes your team/manager ) and you will be treated as such.

I make my own opinions. Good or bad I take nothing as gospel and certainly dont believe every word I read nor do I select the bits I like.

If the dark knight hadn't tapped Stam up or told his players to dive in CL games he would have his lawyers all over Stam and the book publishers.

    He hasn't so Stam's word stands.<ok>

There are none really. Ignoring the wishes of his club is about it. ( Ask him not to talk about the racial thing and he continued to do so. )

Off the pitch he seems fine. Like Drogba.

Thing is who gives a **** about a players personal life. Thats ****ing weird <ok>

Why on earth would he need to do that? What a complete waste of time, effort and money it would be?

Fergie told players to go down under contact. Every manager in the game probably does.

Fergie tapped stam up. And? Happens all the time, Liverpool have tapped up players themselves in the past and even recently.

Why waste any effort on that?
