As a general observation, it is interesting to see what a club is prepared to put up with to keep a key player like Suarez happy. As above, it would be interesting to see if this was say a Downing or Henderson, whether they'd have bombed him out by now. Suarez's antics on the field are a problem but are brushed aside because he is such a key player. I'm not sure this would have happened 30, 40 , 50 years ago.

Likewise when Rooney, Gerrard, Terry etc were holding their clubs to ransom to get better wage deals, the respective clubs caved in due to the quality of the players involved. Can you imagine an average United player getting away with the stuff Rooney has at United, I can't. Players have too much power, especially the better ones.

That's bollox though. Ashley Young got a hammering for his diving last year so there's no pro-United or anti-Liverpool agenda.

I think people are starting to have had enough now of diving and currently most people agree Suarez is the worst offender and plays for a big club so is getting the main focus.

My personal opinion on the whole situation is that it completely lacks consistancy. I can easily see why LFC fans think Suarez has been treated differently- simply because he has - the FA have no excuse for treating Terry differently to Suarez at all. If Suarez got 8 games JT should have got more.

In regards to public opinion and treatment of Suarez, I honestly think we are now seeing the consequences of how badly Liverpool handled the whole Suarez / Evra ****. The t-shirts , the strongly worded statements, Kennys not being particularly good with the media, etc etc. I think LFC did themselves a disservice with how they handled it and the media and public perseption on the club has greatly damaged. This, I think, is why LFC players and particularly Suarez are getting a tough time of it.

Suarez is being unfairly singled out, I agree, but I do think it's for some of the reasons stated above.

Not wanting to stir the pot, just giving my opinion.

You guys are getting desperate now. Really really desperate.

If you buy Stams book on page 148 its tells you to eat your face. Would you do that because Stam said it? You seem to take his word as gospel after all so perhaps you would <laugh>

This ranks up with the Owen dive in 1998. I believe in 1915 United fixed a match, perhaps you could bring that up as proof of corruption now <ok>

Are you telling me that the coverage that Suarez is getting fair? On a weekend when he was stamped on, a Stoke player went in two feet and off the ground, RVP elbowed another player and Bale dived - it's the Suarez story that get's picked up on?

Take your blinkers off for one second.

King Eric - good comment <ok> I'm not saying Luis is a saint and he doesn't do himself any favours but he does seem to be singled out.

The only way in which Suarez' diving could be termed "the worst" is that he's useless at it, it's so obvious. Plenty of others do it better and get away with it.
Do you genuinely believe he does it more than some others? Do you genuinely believe the criticism and singling out is objective and has nothing to do with tribalism and lazy journalism?

Plenty of players have had worse abuse than Suarez has had.

    Beckham, Rooney, Ronaldo.

Booed at every ground, crucified in the press, managers chirping in with their views over it.

Oh right - so just because Utd are criticised for a change, you can just laugh it off?

Because it's not Luis Suarez 'endorsing' diving, you're going to disregard Stam's comments?

    Typical logic shown <ok>

    I mean currently.

The FIFA vice president brought up Suarez in a point about diving. That could easy have been Welbeck or other PL players.

I do think the media are currently after LFC & Suarez but again I think it comes back to how they handled the recent past events and seem to not want to take responsbility

<laugh> yeh makes a change from the usual praise United get. I mean I can say quite confidently nobody has ever criticised a United player, manager or the team in general. They are too busy criticising Liverpool I suppose.

Another one for the list I suspect. Delusion of the highest order.

    It could of been......

But................... and this is the important bit.

SAF didnt go to the head of the refs and say his players might need to start going down easily to get decisions. Nor did he come out and say Welbeck isnt a diver and defend him to the hilt. He didnt do it with young either. Infact he did the opposite and blasted Young for it.

Welbeck then didnt go out and do a dive within a dive. A frankly pathetic thing to do and incredibly stupid after the recent goings on.

So no hes not being singled out, hes just the most stupid player around and hes made it very very easy for FIFA, the FA, rival fans and anyone who wants to to have their say. Best thing Suarez could of done is to of kept his head down on the diving front. In a few weeks it would all go away and everyone would of forgot. Instead he does the single worst dive in years. Genius.

The reason hes the one in the papers, being talked about by fifa and everything is exactly that. Hes ****ing thick. Hes let his team down again. Twice they defend him, twice they stand by him and twice he lets them down massively.

Hes lucky he has any support.

No, but I also dont hold them as gospel considering he and Fergie fell out. Its very likely they are true and if so its not an issue. The wording gives it away, SAF was getting fed up of being cheated out of the CL by the divers so it would of been a case of fire v fire.

We are of course going back many years here aswell and I dont recall many dives, they happened but I couldnt pin point one. Maybe you can?

Have you read the article you posted ? It clearly says to go down if there is contact ?

Liverpool fans have been telling us for weeks Suarez doesn't dive he just over plays on the contact.

He read the headline and that was it.

It also seems to refer to the Champions League not the Premier League and is down to us being cheated by the numerous divers in Europe at the time.
