Well according to the above article they could be. I think we defiantly need another forward, Giroud has done well in his last two appearance but he has hardly convinced and even if he starts to play well on a consistent basis, I still we feel need one more player up front. Chamakh, does not even get games in the league cup these days. Podolski was given a chance to play through the middle against Sunderland and Wenger has not played him there again. Gervinho has scored goals in his role upfront but his game is so hit and miss. Also, he might bugger off to the African Cup of Nations in January anyway. The names mentioned in the article are all names we would love to see at Arsenal. If I am allowed to dream, then Stevan Jovetic would be the player I would want as our new centre froward.

I think if our ambition is top 4 we are OK with what we have got. If we want to challenge for any trophies we need another forward, there is no doubt about it.

    Spot on. <ok>

We will know by January, if the Arsenal board and even the manager to some extent have changed their ways or if it's just the same **** in a different year. Last year, we had to get Henry on loan and while he did a brilliant job in the short time he was with us, it was hardly a long term solution, and we got away with it because of Van Persie, who thank god remained injury free.

Agree that we need another top striker if we're going to push on this season. The season is long and if we want to challenge for cups also, we need more firepower. I like it that we've got options up front, but an injury to Giroud, Podolski or Gervinho and we'd be struggling.

Wenger did initially say that he intended Giroud and Podolski to play alongside RVP, so maybe he's always had another striker in the back of his mind. Last season was a gamble, if RVP had been injured, we'd have been ****ed. If the West Brom keeper hadn't of had such a mare in the last game of the season, we'd have been ****ed too. We got lucky last season and I think the board need to realise that.

To be fair though, I think we do have more disposable income this season to buy a top player - and despite what the doom mongers used to say about our finances, I don't believe we were ever in a position to buy a twenty plus million striker before now.

Gervino is off for the African Cup of Nations in January, and he will be off for almost a month, so that explains why we're after a new CF.

And if last season was anything to go by, he will return in a terrible state and will contribute **** all for the rest of the season.

I can only really think of Llorente as hes out of contract in the summer and Bilbao might sell him.

    Falcao is never gonna happen.

Need to get rid of Chamachk & Arshavin 1st as it looks like there not gonna play much or at all this season.

I think you failed reading comprehension.

I never said we were broke.

But yes I think either of those would be GREAT signings and take us yo the next level. It's kinda weird though..If we had kept RVP we may well be talking about a possible push for the title this Season.

Dont know why you're even mentioning Falcao, Llorente would only come to us if all the other big clubs decoded they wern't interested for some reason

I beg to differ. Arsenal is big step up for either Falcao or Llorente.

We're still a huge club, seven years without a trophy hasn't changed that.

Falcao's won 9 trophies in the past 2 years, unless he gets bored of winning things I don't see why he'd want to join you. To be honest, I can't see him leaving for anyone that isn't going to pay him a ridiculous wage

falcao won them with porto, who dominated the portuguese league, and won the europa league after being knocked out of the champions league.

we offer him the challenge of the champions league and the english league, which he will relish.

i just don't think he's the right player for us.

Expect to see Falcao at Man City in less than 2 years. They can pay 50 million and 200k per week, we can't.

We have a chance with Llorente, especially as we have 2 Spanish players in our first team and Llorente hasn't played outside Spain yet.

TBH though, I don't see Llorente as a big step up from Giroud. I think Giroud may be just as good.

llorente is a lot better than giroud. one of the most talented forwards out there. plus his build makes him ideal for the PL.

Why would he want to play in the Premier League so badly, La Liga's got at least the top 3 players in the World playing there? Also I'm sure he wouldn't trade his Europa League medals to be knocked out in the 2nd round of the Champions League. Lastly and probably most importantly, other clubs who can pay far more than you are interested.

I'm not so sure. He looks like he uses his height and strength to good effect in the Spanish league. He might not do as well in the Premier League. Sure he did well against United and England, but that's not much to go on. He looks like a better version of Andy Carroll or Chamakh. He also seems like a "fox in the box" type of player, and we all know how that turns out with Arsenal!

Only A spurs fan could come up with that kind of logic.

Swindon Town won a trophy last Season - does that make them more disireable than Spurs?

He was at Porto from 2009 - 2011 and although he won some trophies ultimately they are a medium sized club in a poor league. He moved to Atheletico because they are a bigger club.
But they (Athletico) are still a long way from competing for major honours - they are Spains Everton or Spurs. (decent but never really capable of anything other then an occassional cup run)

At Arsenal he would 1. Get paid more . 2 Play regular Champions League Football . 3 Play in the most popular league in World Football .4 Get to play in front of 60,000 fans on a regular basis and 5. Get the chance to bring trophies back to the spiritual home of football - The Mighty Arsenal.

Still I would be just as happy with Llorente in fact I think he might fit our system better. (also yes I agree Giroud is a good striker but Llorente is MUCH more efficient around the box)
