    From the OWS

We recently received a letter from one of our American-based fans....read on to find out more.

When Hull City, after 104 years, finally reached the Premier League in 2008 the media exposure was global. Tigers fans might be pleased to hear that not every foreign football fan automatically follows one of the more obvious ‘big four’, and that our story struck a chord with fans of the underdog far and wide.

One of those fans was Jim Barbera of Seattle, Washington, USA, and he has been following the Tigers ever since – relegation et al and he’s certainly no glory fan!

Although he has never attended a match Jim wants to do his bit to create more Tigers for the future, and he has bought two Junior 10 & Under Season Cards for the South Stand which he would like to donate to two families so that they can bring along an extra junior Tiger.

Jim has asked that we choose the two winners at random from any South Stand Season Card holders who can apply by sending an email to [email protected] with their name, address and seat number by 5pm on Friday 12th October.

Everyone at Hull City would like to thank Jim for his kind offer and look forward to welcoming him to the KC Stadium one day sooner rather than later.

    Nice touch.

Edit - Not in a Jimmy Saville way...

I guess there is a connection with Seattle, both fishing ports, nice fish market there to walk round, anyhow very nice gesture.

    Is it nice?

Or is it a bit weird?

    Think about it.

    I'm not your friend.

If you don't think buying two season tickets for people you've never met to go and see a club you've never seen isn't a bit weird then I fear for you.

It's a nice touch on the surface, but as I say, it's a bit weird if you think about.

Bit like buying a football club when you've got no interest in football.

Hull hasn't been a fishing port for thirty years, I suspect there's not a fat lot of fishing going on out of Seattle either.

    I see what you're saying, but I don't think it's really a fair comparison.

The Allams did it for the community they feel has given them so much, from what I can gather, this guy just decided he supports us. It'd be a bit like me buying somebody a Cincinnati Bengals ticket. As I say, I think it's a bit weird.

    Maybe I'm just dead inside.

Buddy, pal... I sincerely doubt you have any friends so that statement is correct.

I don't think it is weird. This guy is not roaming the street with sweets to give. He has given responsibility to the club to donate these. Doubt the names of the kids will be published or that they will have to spend the weekend "thanking" him all the way across the pond. Why can this not be a selfless act?
If these tickets were adult tickets, I suppose you wouldn't have shown your ugly head.

Everything is a ****ing conspiracy with you.
    You're just a **** stirrer.
You clearly find satisfaction in contradicting the world.
Not sure where it stems from (guessing your parents have something to do with it...did they neglect you in favour of your older sibling(s)?) but I advise you to leave your troll cave and maybe open up to new things.
Otherwise you will turn into a really sour old man, who yells at his imaginary friend while walking down the street, scaring everyone around you.

    Tit.

I can't be arsed to respond to that as I've done it a thousand times.

I'll just point out that I didn't mention the word "kids" intentionally as I didn't want to imply what you obviously think I'm implying. I just think the whole concept of buying somebody a season ticket for a team you've never seen is weird a bit weird.

I hope I've cleared that up.

Sounds like a hell of a guy. I have a friend who was born in Hull who has been a life time fan and who also lives in Seattle. If you are on here Jim send me a message and I can try and get you in touch with him. You could possibly go watch a game at the bar with him.

I sense other motives behind Percy's bizarre hatred of Smogland- it can't be football related as we've not played them enough for a full rivalry to start.

Maybe a bird from Boro rejected him? Maybe he got battered by a smoggie? Or both happened and he's not got over either.

Back to the original topic, this bloke's gift is very generous. Top bloke.

I worked on the fish dock for many years, and fish was being landed in Hull up to a few years ago, mainly from Icelandic vessels, and some from Marr vessels. Was in Seattle 5 years ago and there was fishing being landed then.

I suspect what little fish was still being here has ceased now, we haven't even got a fish market any more.

I never realised that, well that is a shock, I thought it was still going, even though it was a shadow of its former self.
