A difficult question or is it?

As football fans which is more important to you. Fans of all clubs are welcome as I want answers from those who's teams are in relegation battles, those who tend to be midtable and those who's teams are pushing for the trophies.

What matters most? Keeping the ball, passing it around nicely and having high pass completion rates or winning. The most basic thing in football is putting the ball in the net. Without that the game is pointless. Doesn't matter how you get to that point, all that matters is you put the ball in the net.

Some suggest possession football leads to successful football but there are few examples of this being true. Barcelona and Spain aside few sides have much success using these methods. The Dutch who are often seen as the champions of this 'total' football type stuff have 1 major honour in their history for example. Hardly a sign of its brilliance.

Can you be happy with a loss if your team played well? Are you entertained when your team nicks a victory after being outplayed?

    Whats everyones views?

Of course, this wouldn't be aimed at any team in particular, would it UIR? That wouldn't be your style.

That bellends banned off here so no its not aimed at him as such. More trying to see what others think about it.

Winning for me btw, I have seen United win ugly, dominate, obliterate sides who keep the ball and all the flips sides to it aswell.

Suppose it boils down to the simple idea of a plan B.

I think most supporters (including a lot of your own) agree we outplayed you last time. You won. I'm not sure that underlines your theory though.

Forget Liverpool for a second, the prime example of this is Arsenal.

For how many years is it now that the only trophy they have won is the self awarded "We play the best football" trophy, which Arsene and the fans give themselves big slap on the backs for each year?

    Total bollocks.

I'm not advocating long hoof ball but United's powerful, fast, wing and counter attack play pisses all over this nonesense. Wins you a bucket full of actual trophies too.

Chelsea under Mourinho were an utter joy to behold by comparison to Arsenal's tippy tap rubbish.

Going back to Liverpool though. Joe allen, loads and loads and loads of short passes completed. Assists, **** all. Shots, **** all, tackles, **** all.

    Make your own mind up.

***** all is a term I use for not many as I can't be arsed to find the actual figures. I just know it's not many <ok>*

Surely this should be winning or attractive football? Keeping the ball for long periods can be very dull if you don't go anywhere with it.

The idea of the game is to score more goals than the opposition.
I will take 30% Possession and win than 70% and lose.

Not seen a lot of that this season, it all seems to be through the middle and retaining possession.

Yeah, and it isn't an improvement.

The above is, however, our usual way of playing. And has been for donkeys years.

If you're not talking about attractive football then of course you'd prefer the win, it's a silly question really.

Winning is all important but winning with a certain style is what fans want (I think). So more than possesion just having an identity whether you are Stoke or Barca a fan will be happy if there is an idea of how the team plays and that idea brings success.

I've watched your lot a few times this season and what I've seen hasn't been very attractive, win or lose, and that is absolute honesty.

That's because we have had to deal with a largely patched up centre half partnership which has impacted on the set up and way the rest of the side plays.

It can not be denied that this season we haven't played the way we usually do. When we do though, by heck it's good.

    And you know it.

    <ok>

Winning all day long for me. Arsenal fans are the worst when they claim they play top football and the best football yet they win **** all for it.

Exactly. Weve been trying to hard to keep possession.

The United we all know is the one me and ruff mean. The one who pasted Arsenal 3-1 for example at the emirates. Breathtaking football. The one which won a treble, 11 PL titles ( 1 was won by a fairly dull United side that wasnt as cut throat and brutal as what we all know ).

I love counter attacking football played at 100mph.

"its taken just 9 seconds from their own box, 3 passes and United have scored"

Amazing, teams dont recover from that sort of thing, its like 'what the **** just happened'

0 to goal in under 10 seconds and 11 opponents thinking what just happened. Before they realise its 2-0. Without doubt the most entertaining football I have ever seen is United at full flow on the counter. One of the bst recent examples as I mentioned was the Ronaldo goal in the CL semi v Arsenal.
