Even at a young tender age of 16/17 I used to suffer from a particularly niggling back problem, and ****ed it up even more as I jumped up to smash down a high shot against someone. The resulting 20 minutes sat out looking like a tit wasn't very good to be honest ha.
Hate it when people continuously place just high shots.

Nah, thing was I was alright but my mates arent sports fans so I used to get picked last.

Only realised i could hit it long and accurate when I panicked and played a decent long ball. Thus from then on Free kicks and corners it was here you go you take it

Haha ... I know the feeling. Still could be worse. I gave up the sport in the end because I lost a singles league match to a fifty year old woman (I was a very fit 24 year old at the time). I won the first game fairly comfortably, I was just too mobile for her, although she had me running to every corner of the court. She won the second on a tie break, again making me run round in circles, she knew where I was going to put the shuttlecock before I did and I was beginning to tire. She won the decider by five points and I slunk off with my tail between my legs feeling like a right twat. The thing was I'd seen her around the place before the game and thought she was there to open up the canteen and thought it was going to be a piece of piss when I found out i was playing her. I actually took it easy on her for the first few points until I realised how good she was.

Found out later that she had been playing since she was a child, had been the best female player by a mile in her youth and taught her daughter and son (the afore mentione Uk ladies #1 and Uk mens #8) everything they knew. Didn't make me feel any better. But with badminton it goes to show that skill can win over athleticism.

Haha. But WOW though. Yeah, definitely, like if you can read a game better than your opponent it's easier just to rotate off one foot and place the shuttle from corner to corner to tire them out rather than doing all the movement yourself. I've been caught in that rut many times myself and it's very tiring and tricky to get out of!
Not played in months to be honest, since last summer when I went to our local leisure centre with my brother. Even then I hadn't been in a while. Still played him off the court, obviously, and he'd been going week in week out! Was happy to see I hadn't lost it haha.
It's a shame I'm just a bone idle student at university now, otherwise I'd get back into doing...well, any sport! Always great fun.
Couple of mates play in a uni dodgeball tournament. Good sport, but not the one for me I don't think ha..

I'm sure that ****ing my missus is just as good as shepherding a cone shaped lump of plastic over a net with a piece of carbon fibre wrapped in string.

Used to play 11 a side, played CM (more of a defensive midfield role) and sometimes RB. I stopped playing and went to Rugby Union for a couple of seasons where I played Wing before moving to scrum half. Now I just play 5 a side football at the soccer dome. Im looking at getting back into 11 a side football though.

Exactly and nah you don't lose it. Its like riding a bike it comes back to you in no time :) And like you say she managed to hug the home spot (you know what I mean the central location you return to after every shot so you are never more than a few steps from any part of the court) the whole time and rarely had to break into a run. I was running round like my ass was on fire and I couldn't find a bucket of water. And every one of her shots, I can guarantee, was landing within a few inches of where she intended it to go. Also I swear she made no more than one or two unforced errors during the entire game. I can laugh now but at the time it was humiliating :)

You should get back into it Acid-Hippo, sounds like you've got alot of promise and enjoy it!

Don't make my mistake and give up sports you enjoy when you are young and fit and then wish you could still play when you are old and your body isn't up to it anymore. I'd give anything to still be able to play badminton, football, rugby etc and my biggest regret is not pursuing them more to see how good I could have become in a couple of them.

I used to play regularly between the age of 15 and 19, played on the right wing because I had a lot of pace and according to our manager at the time I had an eye for the killer pass, I miss it so much. Trying to get back into 7-aside down at the complete football centre at gosforth park.

We should arrange a not606 7-aside match, Toon Vs Mackems, be quality kicking the **** out eachother on the astroturf <ok>

I Started out playing in goal for a local team when i was 6, got taken in by Notts Forest at 10, got told i was too **** at 12 haha! Then went on to play for a boys side throughout secondary school as a Right winger. During sixth form played as a centre mid for two years and captained us to a derbyshire county cup semi. Went to uni had a year out getting drunk, stoned and laid. This year just done a full season in a Saturday league, Cheltenham district.

Always been football mad, model my midfield role on a mixture of Gattuso (mental) and Gerrard.

When i joined saturday league i was shocked at how good quality the teams are!

    Sort of this.
Played LB for school & a few different clubs until about age 13, sometimes playing striker or LW (I had a hard shot and could cross), then mainly played 5-a-side as I focused on rugby as a second row - had county trials for that, but I ****ed my knee up in year 9, continued playing for a club and school then sixth form through a spate of injuries before I gave rugby up just before uni.
Just started getting into 5 and 7 a side, well started training with a team on Monday (literally just started) and I was ****e to say the least. I used to be decent shooting, passing, crossing and control and I've lost it all so I'm going to have to practice like mad as I was annoying myself attempting to do things I used to do the last time I played footie 3/4 years ago, still have the ability to read a player and tackle, but my positional sense of space & knowing where a player on my team was without looking was shot as well. The latter I know will come back as I get used to who I'm playing with, but the former I've decided after uni to start going on the footie pitch opposite my flat to practise!

I'm sure you are right :) Which is why I said a very good rally is almost as good as sex. But we are talking about bad sex here. And by that I don't mean bad sex in a good way, I mean bad sex in an unsexy way. **** it you know what i mean! ;)

    I was aspiring to a be a SEMI-PRO but it didn't work out. <ok>

Had trials at Hampton & Richmond though(Conference South) when I was younger. That's really the best achievement in terms of football. Nowadays I just have casual 11 a sides with mates and local teams. I've played in goal, as a CB and upfront. <ok>. Best position - Goalie. :)

Haha ... think I'm gonna regret this but here goes! By bad sex/unsexy sex I mean the sort of sex where there is no spark, no excitement, no Barry White inner stereo thang going on inside your head and you have started to realise that the only thing that is going to get her off is if Brad Pitt walks through the door an offers to take your place.

And if your first thought upon that realisation is "Go ahead Brad she's all yours, I'd rather be watching antiques roadshow" then you know that it is bad sex.

Not that I know this from experience mind you, i'm just imagining ...<whistle>
