Good Morning, The Middle East investment-banking group poised to take over Leeds United held less than £4million in cash in June this year, £800million less than at the end of 2008, Daily Telegraphanalysis can reveal. Leeds United are being linked with a move for Southend United winger Ryan Hall.Hall is currently out of favour at Roots Hall after falling out with team manager Paul Sturrock during pre-season.He started the first two games of the season for Southend against Peterborough United and Accrington Stanley before being dropped to the bench for the following game against Oxford United and he hasn`t featured since.Peterborough tried to sign Hall on transfer deadline day for a fee in the region of £100,000, which was rejected by Southend. Defender Ricardo Rocha, defender Stephen Folan and striker Joan Pons have all featured for Leeds this week.Experienced defender Rocha has been at Elland Road for the past week in a bid to earn a deal with the club. The Portuguese international has been without a club since being released by Portsmouth at the end of last season.
Morning Elland. Daily telegraph story is a rehash of same **** being reported for past few weeks. Getting to the stage where theres little else being discussed on any Leeds forums and quite frankly, it's becoming very boring. New owners not in the door and already a witch hunt to get them out. Why am I not surprised. Did the telegraph or any other rag explain where the 50 million to buy the club came from? Of course not because that would'nt create the necessary shock headline. Here is a quote from david Haigh, also from the Telegraph “The financials are the parent company’s not ours,” GFH Capital’s chief executive, David Haigh – who is expected to take up a role – told The Daily Telegraph. “All I can say is the money is available but I can’t give you any more detail because we are a listed entity.” “It is about getting the focus back on the football and ensuring Premier League promotion with engaged, happy fans. We are long-term investors: there is no two- or three-year exit plan.” That sounds good enough for me for now. However with some Leeds fans it's the same pessimism thing thing each and every time we sign a new player. A certain section see only negatives and criticise before he even kicks a ball. Give gfh two years and see how were doing. It cannot and will not be worse than the last seven years. On a lighter note, maybe have been cheaper for gfh to buy Portsmouth last year, they'd have gotten mostly the same team
Even that £4 million is more than Bates would put in! Bates bought Leeds and he didn't have any money (his wife had lots however) these guys are in it for an investment will take us to the premiership and sell us on to the highest bidder very similar to how bates did things just they are nicer
Sick to death of the T/O stuff and as Eire says, its boring. The £4m means nothing because they obviosly moved £50m into another bank for the deal. On top of that they will not be buying the club, as there will be nameless people/backers who are investing so all this is meaningless. I have every confidence that once the deal gets done, we'll be in a much stronger position to buy for promotion. Their main aim is premiership revenues as bates should have done. They know that the money is in the prem and need that money to increase the value of the club. They are also believed to be ensuring ER/TA is bought back, so that the clubs valuation can almost double because we would now have fixed assets in bricks and mortar.
The GFH outfit seem much much worse than Bates HAve a butchers http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE75F4LF20110616?irpc=932
Like Doc I'm sick of reading/hearing about the take over. £4 million prob nothing to them these Gulf states are rolling in aren't they?. It's sensationalism journalism means nothing. Couldn't really find much on this Pons fella so we might have discovered another hidden gem a la Becchio
I live in Hampshire and..... no, it couldn't To be serious, I meant the potential Leeds support (which dwarfs Portsmouths) agree with others on the T/O getting tedious - we can't influence it, it will be what it will be, I doubt the new owners will be throwing tens of millions around on new players, but then I do think they'll spend more thanh Bates will. No idea if what they are saying can be relied on, but I do believe they will spend enough to get us into the Prem, its pretty believable that they want a share of the cash being handed out there. So, in the short term, it will be an improvement - will we be complaining in a couple of years time? Bound to be, I'd have thought
Of course there was a rather big global financial event between 2008 and now. I also couldn't find anything about Pons, only seems to have played a couple of games for Real Sociedad, as WW said, let's hope we've found another hidden gem.
What you driving a GTR? I only charged that to Peterborough lol and that used a full tank haha surely won't cost more than 40 quid in petrol?
