Just saw that Coyle has been sacked, surely Brownie must be a good bet at 20/1 to take over there given his history as a player and on the management team with Allardyce?
After not enjoying success for almost 4 years and being sacked by a League One club I think he'll need a bit of success in the lower divisions before a promotion-chasing side like Bolton approach him. Still, it might be worth a quid.
They could get him on the cheap maybe given his bad run in recent times- am tempted to stick a fiver on
To be fair, I know 2 Bolton fans and both of them have him as their number 1 preferred choice. He'd prob do it cheap in a bid to rebuild his reputation and no compo for a club £100m in debt must be tempting. I reckon it's worth a fiver of anyone's money.
Brown's a good shout, but I think the job will go to someone of a higher calibre than someone who was sacked at their last job at League 1 club. Think it'll be someone like McCarthy or Hughes (if he's sacked).
I can't see them going for Brownie, even if it would be quite popular with the fans, they'll definitely go for someone with a better track record.
If Phil Brown gets the Bolton gig then they can start planning for trips to Preston, Brentford and Coventry. I dont know whats going on at Bolton but they are in a mess both on and off the field. So much for one of the promotion favourites then.
His managerial record is poor everywhere but with us, for a club who are £110m in debt and desperately require an immediate return to the Premier League, a more secure option will be sought.
Possibly, but the feller was Big Sam's sidekick and has the roadmap as he showed in 2008 when his experience with Wembley/Playoffs gave us the edge over awe-struck Bristol City.
Mick Mcarthy 6/5 favourite, Brownie is still 20/1. No odds available for Bruce that I can see, he would be worth a sneaky bet too given his track record of jumping ship and club hopping.
Bolton fans I talked to tonight are delighted Coyle has gone, but they don't seem too keen on McCarthy. Reckoned McLeish would be even worse. No votes for Phil Brown, yesterdays man. One or two said Dalgleish was on the list.! Too many beers maybe but they did employ Sammie Lee.......... watch this space.
My Bolton mates are delighted Coyle has gone. Reckon he was a complete waste of space but they are not convinced that McCarthy would be any better and that McLeish would be even worse.
Probably pre- 2001 then BumChins, don't have the stats to hand! I'm sure he will stick with us anyway we are a nice club to be at.
