"On the opposite side of the defence is Hull City's Michael Dawson, who put in a fine display as the Tigers overcame Sheffield Wednesday." If I'm still being beaten to jobs by morons like this after I've finished Uni then I may have to look at another career path. They probably didn't mean Daws at all, maybe Rosenior or McShane...
Whilst I was surprised to hear that, I don't think Daws did too much wrong other than tugging at that guy Antonio's shirt that could have been given as a a penalty. Steady Eddie came to mind. Also slotted a great little ball to Quinn who nearly scored with a cross that flashed across the goal in the second half and was almost turned in by Simpson on the line. Strange that many slagging off Daws these days just because Dudge has now emerged as a real talent..
Utterly bonkers, has Garth Crooks started doing the Championship team as well???? Dawson, much as I like him, was really really poor on Sat, an obvious weak link in our team, and every time they attacked on our right we looked shaky. They surely can't have meant Rosenior either as whilst 2nd half he played well his first 45 was just as poor, i've never seen him jump under so many diagonal balls and Antonio certainly exploited our right back areas.
I wasn't being entirely serious with that comment, I was just suggesting that they're probably stupid enough to name the complete wrong player. Perhaps they meant Joe Mattock
We haven't had a left back for a while, so no contestant for that position, might be doing it on a rota basis.
sheff weds offered nothing in attack all game, im not sure why people keep saying some of our defenders got ripped open for 45 mins, they where ****e and looked to me like they couldnt rip open a bag of crisps.
This thread wasn't supposed to be critical of Dawson, I was just surprised that anyone would think he was the best left back in the league last week.
From the papers i saw we did not have one player in the team of the week. So Andy Dawson is a surprise. Oh well.
I saw the full match on tigersplayer, Dawson wasn't even our best performer.. Olofinjana was pretty cultured, Quinn looked dangerous McKenna was MOM for me, we're much tighter with him in there. Wendies were poor though, they won't go down cos they have talent with Ross Barkley on loan from Everton, Antonio & Bothroyd..
Just sounds to me like they have seen we got an away win with a clean sheet, and just picked one of our defenders at random.
