I know half of you don't like international football so I'll keep that bit brief. I'm pretty worried that Wales are going to beat us on Friday - hope not, but it would KO any chance we have of going to Rio <boooooo> On a purely Celtic note, there's a chance that four of our players will be involved in a double direct head-to-head. Matthews could be up against Forrest with Ledley and Brown potentially marking each other. Will they go a bit easier on their clubmates (doubt Broon will!!) or will it add a friendly competitive edge? I hope they all come through it uninjured, Scotland get a result and Fletcher celebrates scoring by ramming his balls down Levein's gullet
Makes the game a bit more tasty than just two also rans playing out a result that means **** all to the decent teams in the group.
We are already not going to Rio, you can't drop 4 points at home before you've even won a game and expect to reach the world cup. Levien should have been sacked at half time in our opening game in the last campaign. No injury to our players is what I'm hoping for. I predict a draw and a loss and Levien to tell us its great progress.
I had the merest of interest in the campaign before it started. What little there was evaporated after the 0-0 borefest against Serbia and I didn't even watch the 1-1 draw at home to Macedonia. Like Tom the Cat said, any chance we had of getting to Rio disappeared after those two results.
Kris Commons will be watching intently, hoping to pick up a few pointers on improving his football ability.
Commons is expected to be drafted into the squad. Two call-offs (Rhodes and Snodgrass) mean there's space for him.
88th minute, Scotland trail Wales by a goal to nil, the Scotland support are desperate for an attack-minded player to come on and turn the game around. Levein turns to the bench and says "mon Webster, yer oan."
If Fletcher links up well with - any combination of - Brown/Forrest/Commons my beel at us not signing him when we had the chance will be supersized and off the radar
Surely rogueleader you are not still going on about Strachan not rating Fletcher as highly when he was playing in Scotland as he has shown in glimpses in three/four years in England. Celtic were at that time more interested in signing Ched Evans, Evans has turned out to be a bad one but no one could have fore seen that,
