the drivel guru, is that you consistently accuse norwich fans of getting on their high horse when decisions go against them, yet i and numerous others also criticise when we get something go our way - of course, this is never picked up on by you. as dave says, i stated quite clearly that barnett should have been banned for his reaction, just as suarez should be banned for diving and (the thing which annoys me the most in football) feigning injury every single bloody game he plays. this ALL goes back to you believing that grant holt cheated against your own team (which he didn't) but because you still hold a grudge for it you look to jump on us the second one of us complain about a decision against us. dave has spelt it out perfectly above.
just to add, it was quite clearly heard on saturday, ipswich fans singing (i know, it did happen though) "we only get **** refs" when a decision (which was correct by the way) went against your team. as you say, every club does it but your fans are equally as bad, so why pick on norwich?
the thing that upset me the most this weekend was on match of the day, mark lawrenson had the perfect opportunity to lambast the players involved, yet what did he do? he said it was "funny". very responsible.
At least the other ex-Liverpool player (Alan "****er" Hansen) has the balls to condemn Suarez for his 9.9, 10, 10, 10, 9.9 medal winning performance
At least with ITFC fans we wait until there is something to moan about. Am i incorrect that some of you were accusing suarez of diving and the ref being biased 2 days before the actually game? and how many norwich fans actually raised the point about Barnetts cheating after the game or did you focus on Suarez still?
I saw at least half a dozen posts asking how the hell was that not a penalty! All from Norwich posters, but of course, while you're on your anti Norwich mission, your memory becomes very selective!
i have to say guru, for someone claiming WE are coming across as 'whiter than white', you're doing a ****ing brilliant job of doing likewise!
to be fair, although the post before the game about the ref was daft, and i said as much in that thread along with others, but the fact the ref came from the liverpool area and was selected the day after the liverpool manager moaned about referees would have caused a slight stir, even on your sleepy board as well.
Jackson is more of a diver than Holt he's been booked, correctly, for diving in the penalty area. Fortunately Lambert cut it out of him and he no longer does it.
to be honest, having watched pablo counago and danny haynes play many times, i find it extremely difficult to take ipswich fans seriously when discussing 'cheating'.
I'm not whiter than whiter, i'm the first to admit if we were lucky with a decision like saturday, and have i not in the past admitted that i cheated more than a few times when i played. I know i'm not whiter than white and glad to admit it because i'm a realist. The title of this thread is 'Defend this players actions if you can' well i am defending them by giving a clear case that every club if it meant getting a decision would turn a blind eye to it, but as it is suarez there is some kind of witch hunt involved.
thats the point though supers, i don't deny the fact that pablo went down easy or derby day danny had extendable arms in the norwich area.
guru, how can it be a witch hunt if he KEEPS ON DOING IT? has he been unlucky this season? yes - with at least two decisions. whose fault is it? HIS!
didn't moan about it though, did you? didn't think 'this is wrong - they shouldn't be doing it - lets start a campaign against them'. yet when you felt aggrieved about holt you bombarded our board for two years!
guru, if he stopped diving and feigning injury, nobody would be able to accuse him anymore. the fact he is still doing it, after everything that has happened, means he is a viable target and quite right too. he is a disease in the game yet you don't want it focused on because, well, i don't know why! it seems that you simply don't want norwich fans talking about it. so if i put my lowestoft town hat on, am i allowed to discuss it? i've not seen jamie godbold dive before...
It was actually 8 matches. And 1 match for raising 1 finger at the Fulham fans who had abused him all game. I can imagine you lead a sheltered life if you get offended at someone making a 1 finger hand gesture.
Have you seen how many debatable penalties Man Utd have had this season (and towards the end of last season) with players going down easily? Why does no one point out that Young, Welbeck, Valencia etc have been diving for penalties? Well because everyone is **** scared of criticising Ferguson as he has a monopoly over English football, and if you criticise him you're going to get the likes of Pulis, Allardyce, Bruce etc on your back. See Rafa Benitez and Arsene Wenger for details of how anyone who challenges Ferguson's authority is dealt with. Suarez doesn't help himself with the way he goes down theatrically, I agree, but he's no worse at actual diving than a dozen premier league players who go down easily. Its just that they don't get mentioned, because of who they play for.
But it was the FA who made the charge for the gesture, not the fans. No doubt they weren't bothered. Also, just because the fans were chanting at him that's no excuse!
are you genuinely trying to defend a player for sticking his finger up at fans? how would you feel if wayne rooney stuck his finger up at you? would you be screaming for him to get banned for a game? damn right you would. you could say that the abuse form fans towards the players is far worse and i'd agree with that, but that doesn't mean they should do it.
