Today a motion is presented by MP's in the commons to make Liverpool F C's favorite Scot a knight of the realm. An award long over due in my eye's. Kenny is not just the greatest player ever to pull on the famous red shirt, he's also one of the most generous, out going, unselfish people you could meet. The knighthood is not for his efforts on the pitch, but for his actions after Hillsborough. He was the rock that kept the club together, never bowing, never found wanting always available to listen and support. He was there (along with Marina) for whoever need him. Something he didn't have to do, but choose to out of his kindness and honesty to do. Kenny Dalglish is quiet simply a legend. And this award would be justifiable recognition for his selfless acts through out his life.
I completely agree that its deserved. What that man put himself through when the City of Liverpool suffered its darkest hour in 1989 would have destroyed a lesser man.He put himself under immense pressure and it did take its toll two years later.Idiots call him a bottler. That is not the case.He put himself under strain because he cared. He's done huge amounts of charity work tone example being setting up a cancer society when his wife got ill.His services to football have been nothing short of remarkable, but thats only the tip of the iceberg.I don't think there is anyone else more deserving.Alan Hansen once said that greatness can only be described in 3 words ''Kenneth Matheson Dalglish''.''Alex Ferguson said ''he was a fierce competitor and as brave as a lion'',George Best said he was equal to Alfredo De Stefano.Bob Paisley said he was the best he'd ever seen, and this was coming from someone that played alongside Billy Liddell.Huge endorsements for the UK's greatest ever footballer. Arise Sir Kenny.
Skylarker..not personally, had the pleasure to meet on a few occasions. Have always been blown away by his honesty, humour and time for others. No question is too stupid, no opinion ignored. Any compliment is dealt with humility. My llittle lad, didn't know who he was. Meet him once, signed his shirt, had his photo taken with Kenny. The man found time to make a 5 year olds day. How many modern players would do that?
I agree, from what i see and hear of him he sounds like an extremely humble guy. Quite the opposite of Sir Alex!
There is admiring him and then there is treating him like a God. I think you may be slightly overdoing it.
I'm going to have put my hate for your club aside for one moment.......... Kenny Dalglish actually seems like a decent guy and a decent manager. He doesn't complain as much as some of the bigger boys (Wenger or Sir Alex) and doesn't seem to get suckered into mind games. I think to say that Sir Alex isn't humble is somewhat unfair however. The media always highlights when he complains about anything and there is always a big furore surrounding it, what they fail to recognise is when he is gracious in defeat. We have lost 5 games in a all competitions this season and only once he has criticised the officials, on all other 4 occasions he has been gracious in defeat. He has a lot of respect from people in the game for way he behaves away from the cameras, please don't just go by the picture that the media paint of him.
I actually agree with that. The media portray Ferguson as an arrogant bully that wants his own way all the time.Okay he has caused most of this himself. It was he that created that persona. However Ferguson is incredibly humble. He hasn't forgotten where he started. He still goes back to the Govan shipyards where he was brought up.He hasn't forgotten his roots.I believe that people have two sides the public persona that they have to show, and the inner persona that they only let people they trust see.Kenny Dalglish can come across as dour and difficult, even as a player he was like that. But around his team-mates he was the king of the piss-take.Steve Nicol and Ian Rush two of his victims will testify to that. However outside of the job Kenny is a real gent. And I'd even say Ferguson outside isn't the monster the media portray him to be.
Stick to your club and Arsene Whinger. Liverpool fans know what Kenny's done for the club, and how he's conducted himself, maybe he could give the FRench bottler some pointers in honesty, vision and humility.
No need to get in a state I never said anything bad about the man. Do you really think he wants people to treat him like he can do no wrong? I'm guessing he doesn't.
RVF. Nobody is saying he can do no wrong. He's only human. He however does deserve recognition for all the work he has done.Thats all.And he's done a lot. The list is endless. However jealousy will get you nowhere, just because no gooner is rated as highly. Then again outside North London,Nobody gives a flying **** about the Gooners.
Spot on mate for the link. Definitely gonna watch that when i get time, it's over an hour long though.
Why get so defensive? I agree that he deserves recognition but for ****s sake, he is just a human being. You are building him up in to something he is not. I liked the dig at being 'jealous' by the way, it was inspired
RVF..you quiet obviously an irritating bellend, when you understand the admiration people have for someone for his efforts both on and off the pitch, then comment. He's more of a man, then you could ever hope to be. Being an Arsenal fan, all you'll be used to is a job lot of French cowards, bottling it and blaming all for it.No wonder you don't understand.
Arsenals greatest ever player did more with Liverpool than he did with them and that is of course Ray Kennedy.
Amazing how annoyed you are getting when I haven't insulted anything to do with you or liverpool once.
I don't believe anybody suggested he was omnipotent, RVP. No suggestions he created the Universe or sits in judgement of us all. Marina's charity does help the sick, though, which is kinda Jebuslike, I suppose. Personally I'd never treat Kenny like a God because I have far more respect for him than any God. When Buddha's won as much as him he can call himself a King.
