QPR chiefs ‘to decide whether to replace Hughes with Redknapp’

    09/10/2012
    by Matt Barrett
QPR chiefs will decide this week whether to replace manager Mark Hughes with former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp, according to The Sun.

It is suggested that the club could opt to make the change during the international break.

The Daily Express say Hughes has been given two months to turn things around or he will be sacked.

It is claimed that there is major disquiet among senior club officials at Loftus Road, some of whom supposedly want Hughes out now.

Chairman Tony Fernandes has pledged his support for the Welshman but is said to be planning to wield the axe if results have not improved by December.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard will be offered £1m a month after tax to leave Chelsea and move to China, The Sun report.

It is claimed Lampard is wanted by former Blues team-mate Didier Drogba’s club Shanghai Shenhua, as well as their Chinese Super League rivals Beijing Guoan.

The midfielder’s contract expires next summer, meaning he will be free to talk to other clubs in January unless he agrees a new deal at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard has repeatedly stated that he is keen to stay at Chelsea, while manager Roberto Di Matteo has said that he expects him to be offered a new contract.

If true, it would seem to turn the position as outlined by TF on its head.

Who are the "senior club officials?". Presumably not the team of specialists that MH brought in. Presumably not TF unless he's completely two-faced, and I don't believe he is. So Amit and Phil Beard? Can't see how it could be anyone else. Is this related to Amit's lack of attendances at matches?

Or is this all in a Sun journalist's imagination?

I hope the Sun has it right, but doubt it. Having said that I hear TV pundits saying Hughes has had 2 Statements of support now from TF, and that is normally the max a manager gets before the P45 lands on his desk (or are there still P45's in England?!)

Considering its the Sun I am reluctant to listen to that oart.

BUT The Express says if results dont improve by December.......of course if we are still sitting rock bottom by Decmeber Hughes will be gone.....I'd imagine he would mutually agree it isnt working.

We would practically be relegated by that time!

Why and how does this stuff end up on our board. It's time we filter out anything from. When have the SUN ever had a legal sports story. NOT 606 beats the Sun hands down for news I love to see jouno's out of work ... I still smile over many conversations I have had with Newspaper people in the past who thought the internet would never catch on ... having the same conversations now in the insurance industry about print... I can edit this post at anytime and add the word cock.

Not sure who the others in TF's consortium are but they must be wondering about their investment with us rooted to the foot of the table and Tony's mobility scooters trundling around F1 circuits.

Then of course there's Amit and Beard.

There is one serious side to this. If TF and/or the other board members think that 'Arry would make a good boss at LR then they may be minded to act sooner rather than later. Assuming he is looking for another job in this country (and I'm not convinced about that) chances are he won't be around long once the sacking season really gets going.

I hope our football club is run by a board that discuss the manager as a business. Maybe no wins etc by Xmas then it's a emergency job ... no doubt a relegation plan exists now ... such is the way.
QPR is going forward and i can't see HR being a modern enough manager ... the whole thing, the game. the business is changing really quickly IMO and the models of success are there to see

I agree that HR does not fill me with glee, however find that his ways and MH's are equally out of date as polar opposites. One is a man manager the other can only be aloof and distant, IMO, both are lacking in tactics and how to assess and change whilst a match is in progress.

I'd really like us to interview Rafa Benitez as he has a footballing brain, was to all intents and purposes very succesful at Liverpool and seemingly anxious to prove himself again in the Premiership. Not sure he would be happy to relocate South though but would prefer him 100 times over HR.

Don't want MH out just to get HR in, that's the revolving door all over again!

Replace MH with Harry? The board would never go for that. They might try for someone else, but not for a 65yo with a heart condition who will be off in 18 months any way.

They want stability. The club is crying out for stability. That is why MH will get longer than maybe he would have with the same points total at another club.

We are likely to get stability in the Chanpionship with as you pointed out a PL structure, players, and wages if they don't replace Hughes with the right man now. I'd prefer others, but I have more faith in Harry to keep us up than Hughes.

Stability is a great thing if you Man utd or Arsenal and have such luxuries......Blackburn were very stable sticking with Keane through thick and thin last season.

Unfortunetely that stability resulted in relegation and now a subsequent managerless team that is playing their trade in the 2nd tier!

We cant afford to miss out on next years "Sky Money" treasure chest and Mark Hughes is sailing in the wrong bloody direction!

December is a popular time for teams in trouble to replace their manager so neither the Sun nor the Express can claim to be Mystic Meg for proffering up that nugget and I doubt that they can honestly claim to have some valuable insider knowledge. It's just lazy journalism, the usual thing to say when a team's in trouble.

No s***. I think any manager would be thinking that. How's Laudrup getting along after that fine start? Good thing you've already played the top sides.
