This is a good post- people hate footballers for this kind of reason. Even the ones that purport to be intelligent like Lineker are guilty of it, don't know if any of you saw this today. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...ogy-eating-grass-muslim-goal-celebration.html
This is another thing I notice nowadays from minor celebrities in the media- they act up then go on about 'haters'
I am pretty sure I saw his name in that courts list they publish in the daily fail. That was before I heard any rumours. I remember thinking no, it couldn't be... Now it looks like he's either stitched up the club, or someone 'upstairs' has made a serious error in judgement and tarnished OUR club.
It may well be No. 3. Combined with a relentless persuit of the truth. It maybe No 4. A vote of confidence.
I stated earlier in the thread that the account was bogus. It's not real, he's a nice lad (having met him out in town and in the players lounge) and is a definite prospect. The club will have had to investigate it and considering the amount of time it took to complete said investigation, I can't imagine there was much to look into. He couldn't have just lied to the club and said it wasn't his, they'd have known if he was lying because they would've (as somebody already mentioned) tracked the IP address. The page in question has been taken down anyway, so this will blow over. As for rumours about him kicking some guy in, I wasn't aware of them but it doesn't sound like it's in his nature. But then again, they did say that about Ted Bundy.
We knew about it and we're not him. How would the club have tracked his IP address from entries on facebook? It's private information that facebook would only be allowed to disclose to their own employees when required for their work or to the authorities. Look at this site, only the owners and the mods have access to them, and we only have them so we can check for duplicate accounts and things like that.
The IP address is unique to the house at which the account is connected to the internet, for example yours is the same whether you connect to here or any other site, but is different from mine. They can be easily tracked.
Regarding the club statement, maybe they've done this to diffuse the situation and are dealing with it internally away from the spotlight??
Why is it I, and obviously others, find it hard to believe the club statement here? Normally I would take it as the truth but something doesnt add up - if it was bogus how come Sonny was chatting to mates? Knowing the workings of the club as I do I firmly believe they would never lie to cover the player here and instead take the word of young Sonny Jim as gospel and wouldnt go as far as investigating the IP address. Basically it appears to me that Sonny is not very smart, thought he could cover his tracks and the club put too much faith in his story.
Unless of course he , like 99% of other users, have a dynamic address that changes after a lease period (usually a week or so at most ) or every time a router is rebooted ... or how about if it was done whilst on a phone ? even harder to have a unique IP address as then you are using the same IP as the local Data aerial for your network ... If the club wanted to go down the IP address route they could , but they would not have released a statement yesterday as it would take a week or two before finding conclusive proof either way regarding IP's
So had anyone emailed the club with the screenshots where Sonny clearly references a Facebook account?
There has been allegations of a cover up (particularly on facebook) but I cannot see what the club would achieve by that. It is entirely possible that the club blindly believed what sonny told them, but they've not shown much tolerance with comments.in the media in the past? I must be the 1% as I have absolutely no comprehension of what you said
Somebody posted them on the clubs facebook page. The official statement refers to communications to the club (i think) so they may have been emailed
Just another thought. Aren't the comments from lunchtime on Saturday? Didn't Aldershot have a game on Saturday? Would he be at the club at that time?
Oh just to be clear, I'm not suggesting for 1 minute the club are 'covering up' to protect him, I'm saying its more likely they put full faith in Sonny's version of events.
He did twat someone in Pozition, some people I know were there when it happened, he then asked the bouncers if he could leave without going through the front, because he's famous(apparently). The Twitter feed is definitely him, he talks to the other players regularly on it, he's also been using it to deny he has a Facebook account, despite the fact that his friends on the Facebook account are the same ones he has on Twitter and he actually directs some people from his Twitter account to his Facebook one. In short, he's a ****ing moron.
Another player not using social media professionally, allegedly calling city fans "******s". The club's facebook page have made a status saying that the account used was a fake, however a lot of people posting comments believe it's the real thing and backing it up with evidence. It's hugely disappointing if the club are covering for him.
