Still have to be a bit obsessed though to even bother, wouldn't you say? If you really think Roy favours Liverpool players you must have been living down a hole for the last couple of years. Perhaps he just knows a bit more about football than you. What a surprise.
Fair ****s, got that wrong...or I should say Wiki got it wrong. Do you think that warrants a call up to the England squad then? Is that an achievement greater than the other non selected English centre mids have managed?
Proved that at Liverpool didn't he? Take your red specs off for a moment and you'd see clearly that Shelvey and Sterling would never have got near an England squad, based on what they've achieved, if they played for any other mid table Premier team other than Liverpool. This state of affairs is frustrating to everyone else as Liverpool are, clearly, not very good. It's everyone's business and neither deserve their call up.
Well he deserves his place more than Milner who's barely played any games for Man City since March. And which other centre mids? Are there that many good English midfielders who've started the season well being left out? I seriously can't think of any. There aren't many stand out players that haven't been picked. Swansea unfortunately for Dyer went through a blip at the wrong time while Holt started the season slowly. I cannot see much options there for England tbh. EDIT: Actually just thought that Rickie Lambert might have been harshly left out in favour of Carroll/Welbeck. Still can't think of any central midfielders though.
Think it's more a case of your anti red specs than the other way around. As I said, we didn't pick him, the England manager did. Only an idiot would believe he picks Liverpool players out of some sort of blind love for the club. Are you too young to remember the circumstances of his departure? Anyway, I realise this is just a wum, and a rather poor one, so I'm not going to bother with it any more. Have fun.
Ah, fair point, he has not scored enough so obviously shouldn't be picked. That Joe Hart's not even scored, get him out too
Yet they're demanding Nathan Dyer be called up into the squad. He's hardly Finney, Matthews, Barnes or Beckham class is he?
**** me, the Swansea bitters are back? Lets look at it this way fellas, who has played better Shelvey, or the current England Captain? I know who I'd prefer playing for Liverpool, and if he's good enough for us, he's off the scale for playing for the **** national team.
I've just ditched the pile of ****e from my fantasy football team, he fallen right off a cliff! I'm in a panic to sell my 3 swansea players over the next 3 weeks, the team is in freefall.
Well according to "wikipedia" (according to you a very respectable football source) Leon Osman has only scored 2 goals this season. 2 less than Shelvey.. He must suck ay? In all seriousness; it has been demanded by many of us (including me) that Roy builds for the future, so throwing in a 31 year old who has been out shined by Gerrard, Lampard and the likes for years seems to be another yimyamary backwards step to me. I'd rather go for a 20 year old prospect. Shelvey in my opinion has been on great form this season, outshining Henderson (the ex under 21 England Captain) and proving that he is one of the best under 21 English midfielders in the league. I'm not saying he deserves his call up more than any other midfielder, however I'd rather someone young over Osman everytime.
Go figure??????? are you an American? or just influenced by watching too much telly and can't use your own native language.
Good player now, gonna be awesome in 3/4 years. Strength ( built like a Rugby League player),pace, very fit , very good technically and scores goals More Yaya Toure than Gerrard IMO
My point wasn't that he should be judged solely on goals. The point is that he can't force his way into a poor Liverpool team....you were looking to loan him to us pre-season now he's an England international! Add to that his 1 goal in 31 domestic fixtures, for an attacking midfielder, and it's not painting a pretty picture is it? There is a bias from England managers, if you deny this you're all idiots. Last year Caulker was part of a defence that picked up the most clean sheets outside of the top 3/4 clubs, he couldn't get a sniff. Dyer has been playing close to a full 90 and terrorising Premier defences every week for a year, not a chance...even in a friendly. Britton has been winning us ball and keeping possession (better passing stats than Allen) forever, in the Premier his stats have actually improved....Roy Hodgson would rather pick substitutes from the big boys. The outrageous thing is, Liverpool aren't one of the big boys anymore so there can be no justification for Sterling and Shelvey's selection ahead of Dyer and Britton.....we turned Shelvey down for ****'s sake! In case you lot haven't noticed, we are above you in the league....despite losing 4 guaranteed starters from last year's first XI. Still you give it the. big 'un! Deluded twats.
