Agree totally - but Cabaye's challenges were as bad (if not worse) than at least 3 of the challenges that brought Yellow cards - he seems to be immune to them
He is a good footballer but a dirty **** as well WP but is jsust sly with it. He gets away with some awful challenges (inc elbows) and studs left in tackles. Take the blinkers off.
Learn to read Cest. At no point have I said he is not guilty of leaving a foot in. Indeed I pointed one out in Bardsley. I can't think of any elbows. There haven't been many others to be honest worthy of note. Of course the Sunderland fans are gonna have that view of him because of the Bardsley challenge, so I can understand the red and white specs. Its funny he doesn't seem to have this reputation nationwide though.............
Cabaye is definitely dirtier than Tiote IMO. Far more niggly and he does it for France as well. Tiote just looks like he SHOULD be a dirty player, whilst Cabaye looks like a movie actor, which is why I think he gets away with it.
WP - a tackle from behind is a yellow card in the modern game - he committed 3 of them yesterday - A referee has to ref with a level playing fild - yet he didn't yesterday (booking for Ferdinand for next to nothing and van Persie for next to nothing) - Also - I can guarantee that Lee Cattermole would've been sent off for Gutierrez's challenge (as it was identical in every way to the challenge he was recently sent off for)
Rio was the one guy alongside Jonas who defo should have been booked yesterday. THAT is what I would class as a yellow card challenge from behind. Sliding straight through the back of someone. He caught him pretty nasty too. Maybe I have missed something with Cabaye but I never saw him slide through the back of anybody. I saw him run up the back of a couple and give them a little kick from a standing position, but just in a niggly way rather than a dangerous way. A couple of those guys jumped and hit the floor as modern footballers do but they all sprang back up once they realised the ref wasn't falling for it! I think the difference between Cattermole and Jonas is that Jonas managed to pull out the challenge, and he barely touched Kagawa such was the Japanese lads spring heeled leap. Can't comment on whether Cattermole would have went. I just don't think you could say the two are identical in every way. I wouldn't have booked RVP or Scholes. Both were free kicks nothing more. RVP got the ball eventually, he just caught the player first and it looked wilder than it was. I don't think a ref can put right other mistakes by making more regardless if it levels the playing field. He should try and make the right decision each and every time.
Tiote is not a dirty player at all really. He's just really committed and passionate and wants to win the ball back, and makes stupid challenges that he doesn't need to make. You can't really compare any of our players to Cattermole really. I personally would have put my house on Jonas getting sent off for that challenge, and thought he would have done. With players like Tiote and Jonas it's completely out of character to do anything with the intention of harming an opposition player really. Cattermole has shown time and time again that he's a ****, and in the last few derbies his challenges have been disgraceful. For example, the one he did on Jonas during the 0-1 derby last year. You can't tell me that he did that challenge for no other reason other than to cripple Jonas. It was straight through the back of him, and it should have been a straight red. I have no idea how Bardsley managed to get sent off for that challenge on Colo, but Cattermole has survived 3 derbies without getting sent off.
At 2-0 down Newcastle still looked to have a bit about them. We were garbage all game. Need a massive influx of self belief for a fortnights time.
The disappointing thing is, United didn't really brake us down, it was two set plays which defended poorly, they never really got to our goal any other way, until the Cleverley goal.
Look at the sort of fouls Tiote makes and compare them to Cattermoles. Tiote never goes flying in making potentially leg breaking challenges, which is why he's never seen a straight red in a premier league match. Yes I agree he's been lucky not to have been sent off by now, but he's never really deserved a straight red before. The only times he's deserved to have been sent off were because he's made too many mistimed or unncessary challenges. He should have seen two yellows before he saw a read. 95% of his fouls are just when he's wrestling with other players or sticks his foot out to win the ball and ends up tripping players over. There's a difference between that, and the ones Cattermole has made, and Cattermole is lucky to have only seen the amount of reds he has done so far.

Will you lot get it into your heads that the Skunks do NOT have ANY players who commit deliberate fouls? They only commit gentlemany ones and probably say "sorry old chap" (or the equivalent in French) afterwards.
I'm pleased with how we played. Makeshift defence and we conceded 2 corners - understandable. The third was a fluke. We were the better side for large periods of the game, if we can get Coloccini and Taylor back I think we'll win in 2 weeks time
Two very true statements though weren't they? He never actually slid through the back of anybody and it if you've played football although not dangerous, it is niggly to keep having people running into the back of you and upending or kicking you. The difference is modern footballers roll around like they've been shot. It will have only hurt a little bit too. Hence he got up and played the rest of the game. But why let facts get in the way of a good old yarn eh?
