Or you could put it on Adkins not having a reserve full back?

All Fox did all day was simple sideways passes, I'm not sure why everyone all off a sudden thinks he had a blinder. Is it because he didn't make any total **** ups, he's all of a sudden Danny Alves?

So pleased for Fonte. He was written off by many, before a ball was kicked this term. It just shows that quality can shine when you are in a confident mood.

Yoshida looked dreadful although he was out of position for most of the game. However proffesional players should be able to pass with both feet imo.

Lallana had an off day again, but Punch, Morgan, and Davis were on there game.

Injuries should get better during the international break so not bad timing either.

Fox got 1BP on the Prem Fantasy League site but I don't rate the judges ability to pick decent players on there anyway.

You need to read a few more posts fella. Several people have said Fox did ok. Not many said he was brilliant or had a blinder. I think it's called having a balanced view; opinions don't need to be 0% or 100%. There is a lot in between.

Lionel Messi is about as one footed as it gets. Just to reiterate your point.

Their 2nd goal was the whole defences fault so I dont think anyone payed a blinder , Gazzaniga is one real bonus though as the moment , Fonte , Hooiveld and Fox are not good enough but even I am boring myself writing this now , they are **** .

. You are living in a parallel universe if you don't think Fonte played a blinder.

Rickie, best not to insult people on here, no matter how frustrating it gets. Deep breath and count to ten (Ps. I know, I know, I sometimes bite myself).

No no he can writes what he wants even if he sounds like a Cockney as opposed to a Hampshireman , sad the Hampshire accent is dying to be replaced but a Mockney accent , and Rickie no no I dont think Fonte played a blinder at all , he played better than he has done this season but no not a blinder .

Fonte was covering for Yoshida and Hoovield the whole game. Puncheon did great to help infront of Yoshida and Fonte covered behind both defenders as well as was possible. Morgan and Davis had stormers as well. I don't think Fonte could have played any better considering he got 2 goals. If he didn't play a blinder in this game then no CB has ever played one at St Mary's and never will. You really are a clown sometimes

Seeing as I doint rate any of them then covering for one or the other makes not difference and I did not see much of that anyway , he played better than he has done but OUR defence still let in two , or scored one for them and the second again was woeful collective defending so I fail to see how you can say he played a blinder .

Not sure I agree with all the points gomarchingin is suggesting and I do think Fonte had an excellent game for him but I am in agreement that neither fox, hooiveld and Fonte are not good enough for the premier league nor do I think they ever will be, we look a great team going forward but cannot hold a lead, as someone stated we have lost 11 points from being in the lead, if we even held half of that we would be comfortably sitting mid table having played some really top teams!

I'm praying we can be in decent competition as I think the January window will be crucial and should see

    Left back
    X2 Centre backs
    Defensive holding midfielder!

I'm sorry to say and not for the first time this season I blame Adkins for not picking up the full 3 points on Sunday,

In my opinion we took off two major attacking outlets which invited pressure on a team that is genuinely defensively weak.
Lambert wasn't at his best but certainly still thought he was very effective and Puncheon cause no end of problems as I thought he was fantastic!

I also think if we would have kept things as they were and swapped Rodriguez for mayuka we would have won 2 or 3-0, the guy deserves his chance and looks very effective in the small amount we have seen him!

    What do I know....

I am now believing that Fonte can do agood job for us in this league. He may not be the best CB around, however he played well yesterday and he played well against Villa and did ok in the second half against Arsenal. I only saw the Everton game on PC, so I can't really comment.

Is it just me or does this seem to be the case more often than not this season? I can't really think of one game this year where Lallana has got close to his form of the last two or three seasons. Could the captaincy be having an effect on his performances? Could it be the England call-up? Or is it maybe the accusation that has already been fired at numerous other players, but has so far been kept away from the 'star' names, that the step-up in quality is perhaps more of an issue than some of us thought it would be?
