The latest anti-Chelsea media tirade is that Ashley Cole and JT have "embarrassed English Football and Chelsea Football Club". How exactly? They may have embarrassed themselves but not us. I for one am proud to have both players at our club, both of whom have been instrumental in the most successful period in our clubs history and continue to be. If these two played for any other club, they'd be lauded in the same way Giggs and Gerrard are. Using racially offensive language (in the heat of the moment) and a simple tweet are an embarrassment to the game according to the Telegraph yet: 1. Cantona assaulting a fan on live TV isn't an embarrassment to United or the game. 2. Dalglish wearing a T-Shirt supporting Suarez after he was proven guilty by the FA for racially abusing Evra isn't an embarrassment to Liverpool or the game. 3. Ben Thatcher deliberately elbowing Pedro Mendes thus rendering him unconscious isn't an embarrassment to Man City or the game. 4. Roy Keane deliberately injuring Alfe Inge Haaland thus ending his career isn't an embarrassment to United or the game. 5. Bryan Robson (United ambassador) caught on tape involved in corruption isn't an embarrassment to United or the game. 6. West Ham becoming the first team in the PL to pick up 8 yellow cards isn't an embarrassment to them or the game. 7. Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer (Newcastle teammates) fighting on the pitch during play isn't an embarrassment to Newcastle Utd or the game The list is endless really, but the hypocrisy when it comes to Chelsea is truly laughable
Shocked you've used us as an example. We've been absolutely slaughtered by the press and every football club after the Suarez affair. Terrible example showing your ignorance and bias.
3. Ben Thatcher deliberately elbowing Pedro Mendes thus rendering him unconscious isn't an embarrassment to Man City or the game. Don't agree,we all wanted the c unt sacked
When in doubt you can always pull this generic comment out. For the record the OP was a massive pile of **** as I am sure you and most agree. Almost, almost ranks up with Davidakos legendary thread .
If Terry admitted it straight away and apologised I could see your point about it being a "heat of the moment" mistake, it's difficult not to think very poorly of him for this situation though. I think Terry has caused embarrassment to the FA though. As for Cole, he "evolved" his evidence with the help of the club so I don't think they're embarrassed of him but his subsequent attack on the FA was embarrassing for them, no matter how quickly Cole deleted it. Looking at the guy's comments, it's a bit sensationalistic but when isn't the media.
I'm not saying they weren't criticised before myopic people like UIR jump in. But I never saw headlines rendering them an embarrassment to their clubs or to the game. Dalglish was never labelled an embarrassment to Liverpool or the game
I know what DL means here, being tagged as 'an embarrassment to the game and their club' is pretty much one of the lowest insults you could have thrown at you as a footballer. All Cole did was make a naff tweet and JT was cleared in a court of law and I haven't seen him speak about the whole debacle so I don't see where they get their punchline from. The media are all mugs, not just for slating us but whenever they slate any club they never have all the facts and often make slapdash provocative comments that influence millions of idiots to think the same way.
JT and Ashley have, time after time, been a huge embarassment to themselves, and shown serious flaws in their characters. They are sick puppies, arrogant and self centred. The fact we pay them also means the embarassment rubs off on us, has to, as their offences occured whilst they are Chelsea players. The fact they are great players means most overlook their personal behaviour with an " I don't care what they do off the pitch " attitude. That's fine, but doesn't change things.Very impressed with their playing careers for us, won't be sorry when they move on, just a little bit sad they don't learn from their mistakes.
DL many of those were labelled embarrassments to their clubs. 2, 3 and 7. 7 especially as I remember it being a big thing of how Newcastle were ashamed. 6 has got to be a joke, embarrassed over yellow cards? Robson doesnt play for United though he does represent the club. Not quite the same as the others are players. Nothing embarrassing at all about number 1
Drogs is spot on. MOTD2 another example of blatant media bias. Oscar and Ivanovic castigated for their dives by the entire MOTD panel yet when Bale and Suarez commit far worse dives they claim we should just laugh it off and have a giggle even if it costs the opposition the match and valuable points. Anybody that claims its paranoia and the media isn't biased is probably the same kind of person that fell for **** like: - The Earth is Flat - If a corpse floats on water then the person is a Witch - There is Life on Mars - Gravity is a myth - Ice caps aren't melting Etc etc. UIR is one of these types of people but I for one don't trust institutions especially the Police and Media. And Hillsborough findings/Phone Hacking investigations are damning proof they are all in collusion with each other and aren't to be trusted. All we as fans demand from the media, FA, referees etc is a level playing field. Nobody can say either of the 3 institutions aren't biased or aren't corrupt as evidence suggests otherwise
The media slate all clubs. Every club, every player and every manager gets the media treatment some time during their career. Each is also praised at some point. The medias aim is to cause controversy as it sells. DL's thread shows its worked. He has walked straight into their tired old trap. Liverpool fans do this alot aswell, as do Arsenal fans. Believe the media has it in for them. As a United fan I have seen my club praised and crucified so many times I completely ignore it most of the time. Stop getting wound up DL, you'll have yourself a stroke The world is not against Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle, MAn Utd, City, Mancini, Terry, Gerrard or anyone else.... except Suarez, everyone hates that guy
The media exists for 2 reasons. To report 'news' and to stir **** up. The police exist to keep order and are by and large ****s. Trust me, I spent 12 years of my life living with one of these creatures and believe me DL, you think they are bad now, they are tame compared to even a few years ago. They are watched so closely and any **** ups by them nowadays is jumped on by everyone. Not so long ago these guys battered people for a laugh, stole drugs and sold them on, used their uniform to get what they wanted. I have seen it all. I have some stories you wouldnt believe, how the guy is still in a job I dont know but hes going nowhere and is a village bobby now, a bottom feeder in the police world. The FA are daft, they have ****ed United over many times then suddenly we get lucky. Same goes for every club.
Criticism is fine. If you lose a game you should be criticised. But Chelsea, City and to a lesser extent Arsenal are not losing, they are near enough winning more often than not but come under more severe scrutiny and criticism than their immediate rivals (we know who they are). I've never in my life seen the kind of criticism Wenger got when the reserves got pasted 8-2 at OT last season in a season they went on to come 3rd or when Chelsea drew 1-1 with Blackburn a few years back (and I remember this as the media were calling for us to axe Drogba, Lampard, Cole, Anelka etc), a season which we went onto finish 1st and Double winners. There's no ignorance like old ignorance
Arsene has probably had worse in the past. Arsenal have had some bad runs at times. He was always taking a pasting for having a weak side. It always happens, you cant pick out a single entity and say they get more or less. I could bring up examples for anyone you want to mention really. Just ignore the press, they are bellends paid to be bellends. Its the best thing to do, the more people who fall for their ****, the more they keep writing it
Still embarrassed by the Dyer and Bowyer incident to be honest. Woeful day for the club and game! And for the life of me I still don't get how you can send off team-mates for hitting each other... Opposition players yeah, because it's a foul, but team-mates?
