And had he really wanted to be the centre of attention, he had the opportunity to point at the spot for a couple of the accidental handballs that some refs love so very much.

Doesn't that support the fact that he had a bad game!?

He looked to be playing in the same position he has all season! Obviously wasn't that deep because he still had some good chances. Frankly he should have scored.

I actually think we have more depth at right back than most other positions with Clyne and Richardson injured; Cork who could be a makeshift right back injured; Butterfield not on the bench and people like Stephens who could play there, I think we're fully stocked on options better than Yoshida at right back, we were just unlucky today that Yoshida had to play there after an unfortunate sequence of events.

I thought Jose and Schneiderlin were immense today.
I hope the Guly boo-ers are ashamed of themselves. They don't deserve to be able to call themselves Saints fans. Great to see Guly had a good, strong 30 minutes, though I wish he'd come on for Jay not Rickie).

Completely agree! Lambert ended up not being in the box when a lot of crosses came in, and this is one of our biggest threats! He doesn't offer any extra defensive help in that position so it just ends up with 4 in midfield and one up front with Lambert not being able to add a lot to either.

This has probably been said, but Jay Rod badly needs a goal doesn't he? I'm not giving up on him, no way, just a shame he didn't do better at Everton, and today he could of had a crack.

Is there a break now? gives time for Gaston and Clyne to be back.

Rodriguez needs to play up front as well.

Probably because he was knackered. His lack of fitness is a bit of a concern to be honest. Also Guly is better at closing down and doing the defensive dog work.

Alot of people saying that people were directly booing Guly? to me it seemed more like they were booing the fact Lambert was going off ( which was a ludicrous decision)

2nd half, we looked like an average Championship team.

Yoshida was crap. His passing was piss poor.
    Fox was better.
    Schneiderlin kind of, meh.
    Fonte getting better and better.
    and Davis. Just quality.

I'm with you, it sounded like the crowd were boing NA decision rather than Guly personally
Thought Guly had a decent game when he came on. Playing the free role in midfield looks like his best role

Ludicrous? Really? It's disappointing to see him go off but if you're trying to hang on to a 1-0 lead it makes perfect sense to replace a tiring Lambert with the energetic Guly. You can question whether that was the right decision, but calling it "ludicrous" when the reasoning is clear is, well, ludicrous.

not at all, Lambert was the only outlet when we were under pressure, he won nearly every header against Hangeland. He didnt even need to run if he staed on, just relieve the pressure and help with set pieces, so infact it was ludicrous.

In support of Olly, could see the spence in bringing Guly on but not taking Rickie of when he is our goal scorer and leaving JRod on who is struggling to score
Ludicrous, probably a bit harsh but strange definitely

I totally disagree I'm afraid. Rodriguez has pace and stamina, much more likely to keep pressing into the last quarter of the game. The idea wasn't to score, it was to defend. Obviously it didn't work out, but considering what he was trying to do, it makes perfect sense.

He won two and lost two headers.
