Mr Lambert,
I saw you on the television last night doing a interview regarding you sueing my club for constructive dismissal. You made a comment about how you thought the fans of Norwich City probably didn't care much for you any more, and then went on to say, we the fans didn't know the whole story and would feel differently if and when we did!

Well here's a huge dose of realisism for you;
I am a fan/supporter of the club you abandoned, it may well surprise you, but I still am!
Despite what you, Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa did for the club, it does not give you the right to try to drag us fans into your pathetic money grabbing scheme. You should know the financial situation at Norwich City, yet you try to harm us by claiming "unfair dismissal"! It's a joke, we know that you tried to leave at least once before this episode, so it seems you always wanted away from the club. If this is your attitude to a former employer and fans that gave you undying support, then I for one am glad you've gone.
To try to use the supporters of my club in this way is despicable, as I said at the time Grant Holt was bleating about how hard done by he was, I SUPPORT THE CLUB NOT YOU! So don't you dare to try and drag us into this, YOU WILL NOT GET SYMPATHY FROM ME! You are now history as far as I'm concerned and your behaviour makes me sick. When you bring your new team to Norwich I for one will not be attending the game, I don't want you back here in any shape or form. The fans used to idolise you, now they despise you. You are a bloody fool!!!!!!!

I am incredibly grateful for what Lambert did for his club. I don't care about what is happening now. What he did for the club was amazing and is easily one of the club's best managers. We move on.
 
You should be ashamed ILD! You have no reason to hate Lambert and if it weren't for him your club would be in League 1 or worse right now! Like Kemp says you should grow a pair and show some respect!
 
I really don't see anything in ILD's post that any Norwich fan can disagree with. For all Lambert did for us, he could of handled all of this so much better, although the same could be said about our board.
 
ILD gets the dreaded vote of confidence from me also, PL worked wonders for our club, but this has tarnished him for ever as far as I'm concerned!

Look I've had a good job in the past when my boss changed he changed the company structure and took over most of my decision making, it was obvious they wanted me out but weren't going to pay redundancy.

I was effectively forced out lost a lot of money and sure I could have gone after them for constructive dismissal but I didn't because I chose to pick myself up and get on with it, unlike Lambert I did not walk into another well paid job in chosen career.

Money isn't everything behaving like this achieves nothing other than filling your life with bitterness nd when you live like that you eventually become it. I've seen it happen and it never ends nicely.

Ultimately Lambert wanted to go to Villa, he got what he wanted, he didn't lose out by getting what he wanted (as far as we know). How you can claim constructive dismissal over trying to leave said employer is quite frankly beyond me.
 
Hi bors and country cousins, What Lambert achieved is history. Ron Saunders and John Bond both did good jobs for us but when they left that was the end of it. There was no acrimony.

This is not the case with Lambert, like Shylock he is seeking his pound of flesh. I find nothing wrong with ILD comments. Well not exactly. ILD should still attend the game, he can always turn his back on Lambert when he leaves the entry tunnel.

Lambert has said he is "disappointed" with our chairman releasing the news of his suing the club. What did he expect Norwich to do, keep the fans in the dark just to please him. No way. He says Norwich is suing him, not exactly true, Norwich are counter claiming. Would Norwich initiated this counter claim if Lambert had not made his claim.

I've always extolled Lambert's handling of the club while he was in tenure, not any more. He states Norwich are conducting a "smear" campaign against him. That is laughable, our chairman has reported, as ColMike would express it, FACT. Lambert is quite capable of conducting his own character assassignation, and that is what he is implying to justify that ridiculous claim for £1.5-2m damages.

What are those damages Lambert hopes to receive. Loss of income from being sacked ? No, he handed in his resignation and then went immediately into another job, Norwich were well satisfied with his handling of the club so dismissal was never in the picture. That leaves his reputation as a manager to be compensated. That reputation is easily understood, ask both Norwich and Colchester !

Not being privy to confidential information regarding his contract, I can only assume that there was a clause in his contract allowing him to speak to another club if enquiries were made of Norwich for his services. My question is when was this clause inserted in the contract ? The reason for this question is that Burnley (then a Premier League member) enquired if they could approach Lambert only for our board to deny them their request. If that clause was relevant then, why did Lambert not invoke that clause and resign then. Law states that if you are offered an action and you take no action, you have acquiesced, so why shouldn't Norwich assume that this was the case when Villa came calling.

The pity of this sorry saga is that our ex-manager, through his own action, has diminished and "tarnished" his reputation with with our fans with this unnecessary legal wrangle, as I mentioned before Shylock wants his pound of flesh and we all know how that matter was decided!

No you can say what you like any time you like (think you've mistaken me for some other posters on this site) just don't get the hysteria over it You're a bit prickly this morning, drink cabinet empty???
 
Paul Lambert could at any time have said straight out "I am staying here, there's a job to do to get NCFC established in the Premier League and I'm going to do it". He chose not to. Instead of committing himself, he resorted constantly to "I'm happy here but you never know what tomorrow will bring". Truth is, you cannot run a football club with constant uncertainty surrounding the manager, especially one who persistently refuses to commit himself. Look at the effect on Tottenham of the speculation surrounding Rednapp and the England job. <ok>
 
Yes he could have said that and didn't because he was an ambitious feck that was always looking for a better propsect, we fed his ambition and both NCFC and Lambert profited and now we are in far better position than we were when he arrived.

For whatever reason, he has decided to try and get compo: Businessman trying to get the most out a competitor (now he's moved on) whats the big deal?
 
For me it's a case of, he did great things for the club. We wouldn't be where we are without him. But it's history now. Lambert is no longer Norwichs manager, Hughton is. Yes he's suing the club and I don't like that but it won't change what he did for the club.

Maybe I misinterpreted ILD's post. I don't like that he's suing the club and I think it's wrong but when we look at the history books over the next few years he will be considered as one of clubs greatest ever managers.
 
Norkie's post raises the point that there may have been a clause in his (revamped) contract allowing him to speak to rival clubs if there was any confirmed interest.

If true and Norwich's response was " no, hands off, we're not prepared to allow this" then he was within his rights to resign, as this allowed him to talk to Villa as a free agent.

But I really can't imagine McNally being so naive as to let this all unfold and risk a counter-claim for wrongful or constructive dismissal. He's always appeared sharper than that. As if we're not having enough problems on the field!
 
I am full of respect for what Lambert did when he was here, but I feel that the way he left and what he's done since is despicable. He had every right to leave by resigning to go to another club, but like others I feel that suing City is simply 'money grabbing'.
