Amazing things that pupils say, part 1. Me: so, i went to a football match last night. Pupil: Oh, what fun, who was playing? me: Watford played Charlton Pupil: two teams??? me: um...yeah (confuddled look) ...would be quite boring with only one! Pupil: i'm not very familiar with football me: (thinking to myself, obviously!) You don't say!
Amazing things that pupils say when approaching a red light: Pupil: Do i need to stop? Me: Unless you want to crash, might be an idea
H, once they've passed, if any of your pupils came over to Jersey by ferry bringing their cars, there might be a bit of confusion as there is no red and amber prior to green at traffic lights, just straight from red to green unless there are lights by roadworks as they are supplied by companies over there. Talking of driving, I'm sitting here with the F1 qualifying on and there is heavy rain here at the moment. The big news on the island this week was the birth of a baby gorilla at the zoo - this is due to there being a new male here. There were two theories as to why it didn't happen with the previous male, one being that he was firing blanks, the other that he was gay. The latter would certainly be a new aspect to evolution.
Alternatively, he may simply have found her to be too ugly to warrant bestowing his favours upon her. I'm not a gorilla, and I've never tried it on with one - but I've certainly found myself in that sort of situation a few times. Also, it may be that she didn't fancy him - and I've found myself in that situation quite a few times too.
That's funny BB, both have happened to me a few times, but mainly the latter Morning all from a bright and sunny bandit country...house is quiet, just Mrs W_Y and me at home today! I brought up the topic of downsizing again last night and Mrs W_Y isn't talking to me again, oh well I will put some music on - the new Mumford album is rather good!
Oh, that's the same as the continent and Ireland, and the US...in fact, i think we're quite unusual with the red and amber thing going on..lol
I think the red and amber thing was provided when cars had to double declutch. It gave the driver time to get the car into drive ready for when the lights turned green. Obviously that isn't needed now and many jurisdictions have got rid of the amber and red preparation lights. I may be completely wrong, of course.
that would make a lot of sense NZ...been a long time since double declutching...i remember my brother doing it, but 4 years later, when i started driving, it wasn't necessary anymore...
Now I can talk about anything but please not this clutch thing.... I remember it all being explained to me by my instructor in an early lesson years back..all about plates spinning??? .. .and it just made thing 10 times worse as I never understood how it worked... Then my instructor suggested I learn in an automatic... completely demoralising... so 4 lessons later I brought it up and he said he was "only joking". Maybe I should read a good article on the history and development of the clutch in motor cars? I nowadays change gear with ease all over the show... but have never really allowed myself to understand it
Wouldn't bother Yorkie (unless of course you are retired and finding time is hard to fill ). Double de-clutching is best left where it belongs - in the annals of motor car history, along with men with red flags, hand signals, those funny indicators that stuck out the side of the car, starting handles, foot operated dimmer switches etc etc
Good day all, Not a bright and sunny day here, more damp and grey. I made a comment about the weather to Mme Lebon when she came and was surprised to hear her say that it was nice and sunny. What do you mean, I asked. It is nice and sunny in my head, she replied. Don't know what she has for her breakfast. I am really looking forward to being able to drive again. Mme has taken over and has just about got to grips with the postion of the gear stick. The last trip out was passable, only one attempt to indicate direction with the wipers.
I thought double declutching went out inthe 20s with the invention of synchronised gearboxes. I learnt to drive in 1968 and the subject did not even come up. I now drive mainly automatics anyway - except my Fourtrak
person at chelsea match: I need to call my wife other person: why? person: Because I can't see John Terry anywhere
Just glad I don't need to get the bus into work as the drivers here are on strike from tomorrow for an undefined period. Apparently, it's something to do with the transfer of the bus service from Connex to CT Plus in the new year and the terms and conditions of their contracts, although being promised that they would be the same (by Transport & Technical Services, not CT themselves) won't be. Anyone who was a member of a union know if they're allowed to strike while still Connex employees despite the issue being the terms and conditions when they become employees of CT Plus?
Hot bubble bath, options hot chocolate and a good book. What a good way to round off the weekend. #relaxed
