stormed straight past Hughes and the bench and down the tunnel when he was taken off. just having a strop or something more?
I thought he was a holding midfielder today Dave? Would be deep wouldn't he? I was advocating this position for him, so I can't fault MH for that. However a lot have said he was poor there today. Anyone who saw the whole game care to comment? Wubba?
he was struggerling for a bit and they could not get him off as we kept up the pressure and kept the ball in play. might be why he was pissed of with hughes if he was. to be fair hughes was trying to get him off and the forth offical was messing about getting the board and stuff
Mbia was ok yesterday, nothing more nothing less. The granero faurlin pair would have worked better with him.
I was there and quite high up so got a good overall view. He was injured in the first half but played with energy and speed going forward like a taller and faster version of Diakite. Not many tackles that I noticed. However, cannot see why he was there at the expense of Faurlin and should have been one of the two CBS both of whom were shocking. I thought that was his primary role? have I got that wrong? First time I've seen Nelson but Ferdinand was, and always has been, shocking. I don't know if Mbia can play full back but Clint Hill no longer can. Disastrous selection for that position. For such a negative manager how can Hughes not have sorted this out? It was a priority.
Too deep too disconnected from other three/four ... Flyer I played there during my time its basic stuff you don't just sit you tie things together ... the back four push you up or move up on you reading the game. You protect the back four while staying in contact with the midfield ... as to the comment I would certainly take the pepsi challenge against you my friend any day on football matters. Adel was given how many roles when we had the ball? What was his role when we didn't have the ball? Lots of games inside a game Flyer ... put down the clipboards and watch the game
Sums up my football knowledge ... good grief anyone see how frustrated Mbia was playing in the first half. He wasn't reading the game as that position dictates. Flyer how many times do you get things wrong on a weekly basis on here? it's one of the reason i read this forum ... Please carry on its brilliant stuff and it wouldn't be the same without these opinions
Sorry I missed this thread last night I thought mbia did ok but nothing special. Thought he looked better in defence against the hammers tbh It just seemed like another decent player in the wrong position - getting rather bored with saying that now
agree Faurlin had knock against West Ham people forget. MH does look after the players always did.. Mbia had very poor first 15 for me ... far too deep and just sat our midfield at mo is all about keeping the ball and to his credit MH has us doing that ... Bob you know this stuff first 15 is time to impose away from home if you get a hold of the ball . SWP does this well on that side to be fair and that is the reason he starts at the moment. We now work the ball well but when we loose it our shape was there for all to see ... big disconnections. WBA actually played counter attack at home and didn't come at us, we are weak very weak heading back towards our own goal but otherwise i hope you can see and comment as a football man the differences we have made. Fans screamed get SWP off who suffers from confidence issues Mackie didn't look superior to me there IMO.
Dont agree with that Bob,Granero and Faurlin are to similar, you only need one ball player in this side.I think you will see Granero M,bia and Diakite against Everton.
Very good point. He are holding our own with the ball now and pulling teams around which is a start that middle needs blocking with Fellani that is for sure
I thought he was one of our better players. It certainly didn't help that Park was ****ing useless but Mbia did what he could as pretty much the only defensive midfielder. Wright-Phillips' much lauded defensive work was nowhere to be seen and he's got the footballing brain of Egutu Oliseh (remember him?) when he ends up with the ball in their third of the pitch.
I thought M,bia does the simple things simply.Gets the ball and moves it straight away, also a threat in there box at corners.Agree he had a dodgy start yesterday but its only his third game. There third came straight after he came off. One to watch.
