Hello and welcome to the all new and improved Match day Hub which is now the official place for Gillingham fans, I decided to update this so that you will know where to go and chat before and during the game. I always post this a few days before the match so you can start to create a debate before the game on what you think will happen in the upcoming game, you can post who you think should play in the game and why. In addition to that you may share with us what you think the team will be that plays as that may be different to the team which you think should play, if you think a certain player should not play you can share with us the reason why as it is good to know what the fans think about the team and why certain players should not be in the team if you want to tell us why. So all you need to do is post your starting 11 plus the 7 which you think will be on the bench, you may be correct or not but it don't matter as no points are awarded it is just for fun. If I am not at the game I will normally post updates about what is going on and the team which is playing, but when I go to games I write up a match report afterwards. You can post freely during and after the game sharing your opinion with us on the result and what you thought of the players who played. If you go to the game it would be great if you could write up a match day report telling up what you think of the result and what you rate each player out of 10 giving a reason why. This is open to both Gillingham fans and also the opposition, don't be afraid to post just because you are not a Gills fan if it is friendly banter that is allowed. Have fun and debate freely! Just want to add aswell if you do any bets you can share with us what you think is the best bet, I do bets each week so I will share them with you if you want.
Hoping that I will get a nice birthday treat by seeing a Gills win and Danny Kedwell on the scoresheet.
Hope so, would be nice, he could do with a few more from open play again as he did start to get a few at the start of the season but they are all from pens now, but then you can't get everything you want, it would just be nice that over 50% are from open play.
Just like Tuesday at Northampton, Oxford is close to home for me! Looking forward to another 3 points and several Gillingham goals (seven)
It is nice to see Joe Carter and Jake Hessenthaler are coming with the team as it is always nice to see more young players trying to break through, with how we are playing it must be well hard for them to try and break into the team.
Listening to the Oxford commentary, fed up with that on the Gills commentary plus the sound keeps cutting out. They are saying on the Oxford commentary, the Gills have been denied three times from scoring. Nice to hear a bit of unbias stuff. Oops Oxford commentary just gone off as I type this
Good news, despite being 1-0 down, Cheltenham are now leading Fleetwood. Sadly looks like Port Vale have the points wrapped up in second place. However, whatever the outcome of our game, two home games to come on consecutive Saturday's. I would settle for a valuable point right now.
I'm well pleased with a point at Oxford. Fleetwood also drew so no gain for them. Looking forward to the next two home games.
I think we are doing very well, 3 points clear still which is fine, also Bradford dropped 3 so they are fell away, Exeter lost against Port Vale so our gap is good.
Ryan Clarke, Oxford keeper MOTM! Says it all really! Enjoyed the game, a nice afternoon with loads of singing!
Just read the comments on Oxford's yellow forum...They are celebrating a home draw against the league leaders!!
to add a little substance to the above post. Gills had a lot of possession in the first half and but for their keeper making 3 outstanding saves would have scored from probably all three attempts and completed a comfortable win. Nelson was called on to make only one save - from a slip by Flanagan letting Oxford in with a chance ( that they didn't create ). Gills should have killed off the game in that first half! The second half was a more even contest. I thought that a couple of players showed signs of tiredness - but then that's not surprising given the hard games of last weekend and at Northampton on Tuesday. Flanagan had a couple of dodgy moments, and Montrose was very unimpressive when he came on - kept on giving away the ball ( awful). I was particulary pleased to see that Jack Payne appears to have found his true form - a great battling midfield performance.
I personally thought that Flanagan had a good game! Brought the ball out well from the back, very assured in his passing and even had chance to run with the ball in the first half when he ended up the furthest player forward!
I think you were watching a different game gfc0000 if you make out flanagan had a good game, he tried to be to smart and got caught out more than once rather than keeping it simple at the back. As you say alwaysright...jack payne played well and put in a nice couple of tackles over near the touchline dugouts. I didn't think much to joe martin today, he didn't know what to do with the ball when given it and should of just attacked down the wing when moving forward and no montrose didn't help our cause at all in the second half and our long balls forward were always going to please the oxford defence, which they dealt with at ease. How we got those two yellow cards is also laughable to say the least ! Good turnout of support though fairplay. Positives adam barrett and jack payne, negatives especially second half flanagan, martin, kedwell and montrose. A point is better than nothing though.
