ROYAL Mail bosses have banned the Union Flag from Scots sorting offices ahead of the royal wedding. Post office bosses don't want the British flag displayed because they fear it might cause trouble over its link to Rangers. The news came as William and Kate continued their wedding preparations with a rehearsal at Westminster Abbey last night. Old Firm rivalry and sectarianism have been in the headlines since the bad-tempered Glasgow derby last month and the subsequent letter-bomb campaign against Hoops boss Neil Lennon and other high-profile Celtic fans. On Tuesday, bosses ordered staff at Glasgow's Springburn mail centre to remove Union Flag bunting they had put up to celebrate the wedding. A spokeswoman said: "We do not wish to dampen festivities. "But, in light of recent sensitivities, we cannot agree to any material that can be construed as having partisan connections. "We're happy for staff to display memorabilia of the royal couple. "We don't want anything that's just Union Jacks - anything that can be misconstrued." But a mail centre insider said: "This is madness. There are going to be thousands of families across Scotland waving Union Jacks on Friday, eating from Union Jack paper plates and so on. "Some may be Rangers fans but I'm guessing that's a minority. "Royal Mail seem to be saying the Union Jack is bigoted I think the bosses appear to have fogotten that they work for the ROYAL mail and have given in to Racist sectarian bigots! http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/2011/04...6908-23091504/ So that was McVitties Biscuits yesterday and the Royal Mail today. What a truly ****y little country Scotland has become.
In all seriousness, what a ****ty country we live in now. Some people seem intent on killing all sense of national pride with their immature whining. The McVitties story took some beating but I think Royal Mail have took the 'biscuit'.
Indeed we will Brendan. But since Eminem hasn't banned the Union Flag on here YET here's a couple for ya! please log in to view this image "King Billy's On The Mall" please log in to view this image
Is it actually true though? A lot of times these stories turn out to be absolute pish. Like the time Birmingham Council banned the use of the word Chirstmas and called it Winterval festival instead. It was completely made up by the ****ing right-wing press.
Allegedly, they were putting Union flags up in the factory, when some offended woman said that if they never took it down, she was putting Irish flags where the Union flags were.
