    Sunday 7th October 2013

KO 4pm @ St James' Park

    Squad (courtesy of nufc.com)
Steve Harper will keep goal in the continued absence of Tim Krul, while Rob Elliot's injury against Bordeaux means that rookie Jak Alnwick is expected to be called up to the bench as cover.

Ryan Taylor and Steven Taylor both remain out, but there's a chance that Fabricio Coloccini could feature. Danny Simpson completed 90 minutes in midweek and comes into contention for a place against his old side.

Demba Ba, Jonas Gutierrez, Hatem Ben Arfa and Davide Santon were all rested in midweek and are available.

    Possible Lineup

I'm convinced we will win this game I really do. Man Utd usually lose games in clusters rather than spread over a season and we're certainly on the up.
Cisse and Ba have found their shooting boots so I'm gonna stick my neck out and go for 3-2 to the Toon.
Toon 3-1 is 30-1 with PP and throwing a Cisse FGS into the mix boosts that baby up to 150-1.
No one fancies us at all.... just like last year.......

I think Shola deserves a start and would play him up front with Ba.
I dont think it will happen but I would also like to see Shane Ferguson on LM.
Rooney and RVP look as if they can play together.
Man Utd defence a bit shaky.
    Going for a 2-1 win.

This is as good a time as we will get to play Manure. RVP and Rooney are undoubtedly a threat, but they look weak at the back and are lacking any width.
If we come out and get stuck in, maintain our discipline and attack their weakness, we can win this one.
    3 -2 HTL
Will be out of the country in foreign climes, but l am sure l,ll find it on the box in a sports bar someplace.

    Most unusual.

Anyway that lets a draw out. It's a pity that Jones isn't playing but I'll still go for 3-0.

I don't like the confidence of others around us getting a win, as it usually means we'll lose.

I think a 1-1 or a 2-2 draw tbh. Either side could nick this game.

Me too...the confidence worries me... That said, I'm all for a 1-0 or 2-1 win.

I'm going to predict a draw or defeat, think Manure will get some outrageously lucky decision tomorrow for some reason either a harsh red for us or a stupid diving penalty for them. I base this on nothing in particular, just a gut feeling (although that could be the prawn balti I had last night).

Anyhoo I had a vivid formation porn fantasy last night, given that Shola has done well, why not have the following:

    Harper
    Santon Colo Willo Anita
    Tiote Cabaye
    Ben Arfa
    Demba Cisse
    Shola

Not sure if it would work, maybe a little too cavalier, but no one would accuse us of not going for the opposition!

    I'd personally play -

    ---------Ba------Shola----------

    Ferguson-Tiote--Cabaye---Ben Arfa

    Santon--Colo---Willo----Simpson

    -----------Harper--------------

Yep so would l, and then keep Jonas in reserve to swap out with Ferguson and Anita to come on for Simmo if he starts to flag.

Nice to think we have players of the calibre of Jonas and Anita in reserve if needed. That plus Perch has come on in leaps and bounds too if needed.

We all do the fantasy football league at work and quite a few non Toon supporting colleagues have Perchy in their squads, it's really amazing to think of how far he has come in recent times, as he really was considered something of a joke at one time, now he is recognised as a really talented and versatile addition, so all l can say as someone who was not a fan of his is, well done Perchinio!

Would be interesting to see how RVP would react towards Krul, seems to have a real dislike for our Timmy.
