If Jack Colback becomes the player I believe he will, next season could see us have 3 holding midfielders that would be the envy of most teams. Lee Cattermole, David Meyler,& Jack Colback all young players, all 100% grafters who inspire others around them. How many times have we suffered when Catts has been suspendered, or injured, while Meyler has been out. From the start of next season we could play 2 from 3 rotating like the bigger clubs do. I can't remember having such strength in central midfield and they are young enough to serve us for years to come
Colback has looked very assured the last couple of games, Cattermole could challenge for an England spot when he's on top form and Meyler was getting better and better before his injury. I think these players could finally see the end of Henderson playing in the middle or if he does play in the middle, he'll be allowed to get forward which is where he plays best.
Looking good, just need the attacking midfielders to weigh (is that spelling correct) in with a few goals. Get ricco, hendo & sesso rotated as well. Get the strikers sorted and we neednt worry about defence.
Forgot all about Meyler until a few days ago! However i personally hold him responsible for our injury crisis cos he started the bloody thing!
bit harsh on the lad there, he cant help picking up injuries. its our atrocious medical staff that are to blame for the constant breakdowns when people are returning
Medical staff only repair the damage, it's the training program that worries me, too many knee & hamstring injuries, we're doing something wrong in training.
The training regime caused problems injury wise when Bruce was at previous Clubs. I think he must be a slow learner, no doubt caused from his heading the ball so much when he was playing. He must be slow because most people would have got the nose fixed by now!
Obviously Cattermole's position is certain. Personally though, I think Colback has the place alongside him locked down until further notice. Meyler's gonna have to do quite a job to win it back.
two sides to this debate, 1. keep the young lads and hope they are the future, we never know if we don't try. 2. buy the players that many have suggested, and then expect instant results. if we buy the young lads will probably be pushed aside. if we don't, there wil be calls for the managers head for not buying, if we get a repeat of the last two seasons?????????
How the **** is Meyler proven? He's been with us for 3 seasons, made 13 starts and 2 sub appearances, picking up six bookings and a straight red against Pompy. I really don't think that makes him an automatic choice ahead of Colback, do you?
