I stopped watching films after they all started being made in colour. Northern Kitchen Sink dramas like Billy Liar, Saturday night Sunday Morning and, the best one, a Taste of Honey. Can't beat 'em.

Now that is more like it! In the days before Dr Hollywood ruined the world with silicone. I'd give her Plenty!

I'm similar - the gritty northern dramas, ealing comedies and anything with Alistair Sim, Will Hay, etc, the thrillers. Even some of the yank stuff is watchable before colour film came along.

I used to love watching Will Hay films with my faither when I was a kid. Laurel & Hardy and Harold Lloyd too.

They don't seem to show any of these films on the telly any more :(

If my kids see something in black and white, they immediately switch off.

    Generational thing?

I dunno. I was the same with most b&w films when I was a kid apart from comedies. I think you appreciate older things more as you get older yourself.

i was brought up with black and white and first abiding memory was the fake lunar landings.

    Laurel and Hardy.

Black and white is more atmospheric.

The Third Man is cinematography at its finest

If your life was as empty as ER's then you'd do anything too to make yourself noticed...

How the **** is that nonconformist? You're talking about films and a pop band for **** sake <doh>

I generally don't like Bond, especially the older ones with Connery and Moore, because they're smarmy, contrived and the acting is generally **** awful.

The Beatles? Some good songs, some bad songs. Give me the Kinks or The Who any day of the week.
