Killer. It's effecting your mood, shows in the tone of some of your recent posts mate, most unlike you. I am avoiding too much red meat and processed meat (bacon! salami!), off spirits entirely, allowed fruit but not fruit juice. Technically should be vegetarian, but the doc said - if you have a steak, wash it down with plenty of wine or beer, flush the protein through the kidneys quick. I can live with that. It's a tricky one, being presented with evidence of your own fragility and having to make decisions over things you never thought about, hitting that balance between richly deserved pleasure and the suffering which may accompany it. Bloody Mary my airplane drink of choice. Excellent on Emirates.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm already decided Chase Vodka Martini, just a threat of vermouth and yes def lemon over olive, but i'll stick to a twist rather than sprinkles, easier to drink, roll on 6:30
Well apologies to all if I've been over reactionary. A combination of Mark Hughes, 2 points and no alcohol sedatives of an evening are starting to make me slightly abrasive. If anyone mentions Saab's I might lose it altogether!
It's chemically induced/ withdrawal symptoms mate, no apologies necessary. Just hope the points total starts ticking up, then we'll all feel better.
I'm filling the void by making jam again. Theraputic and tasty. If anyone wants any damson & ginger PM me.
Great idea grating the entire lemon after freezing it. Thanks for that. However as for the stronger than chemotherapy business no way. I had chemotherapy in my teens for Hodgkin's lymphoma and believe me that it was some heavy ****, especially back in 1970 (yes, I'm that old!). Eating a lemon doesn't make you throw your guts up for eight hours. Don't risk your lives with unproven alternative treatments (or dodgy clinical trials for that matter).
I think Limes have all that lemons have and are less sour, especially in a sunny place like Greece. Reading the OP reminded me and I've been chewing one all day!
On a less than cheerful note, it seems past excesses can catch up with you. I've been reading about the retired director, Michael Winner, who with lots of money and not much to spend it on, has led a life travelling to expensive fleshpots and sampling all the gastronomic delights on offer. Five years ago, he nearly killed himself by eating a bad oyster in Barbados, last year he got e-coli from eating three courses of raw beef in a row and in the paper today, I read that he has 18 months to live since his liver is packing up (from over-indulgence or the illnesses, it didn't say). It may not be as exciting but there's a lot to be said for sensible eating and healthy living. I like the idea of the lemon btw Kiwi.
I went off alcohol in February (yes, really! I have rarely touched the stuff since). I've found myself hooked on squeezed lemon juice mixed with carbonated water. Homemade sharp lemonade. That and a crafty ****. Lovely.
I went off alcohol too at some time in the future, but for the life of me I can't really remember when that will be...
Great recipe thanks just had two with a slice of swan ... brings out the earth in the swan a treat ... i have trying now to freeze a swan with two lemons and a lime inside it ... Sorbet !
Lucky you, unfortunately Swan Burgers are reserved for our inbred overlords here in the UK. http://www.instructables.com/id/Gourmet-Swan-Meat-Burgers/
I remember as a lad when we were served orange wedges at halftime in our football games. I also went through a odd phase in my youth of eating lemons & limes, not sure why, perhaps for the "sour" buzz and also consuming copious quantities of fried onions. No scurvy on me back in those days!
