You obviously think that the FA won't take that as just a bit of banter<laugh>

I remember him being immense back in 2005 or so, especially in FIFA and LMA.

He was part of the Valencia team that won the league in 2004, along with Mendieta, Baraja, Albelda, Ayala, Vicente, etc. One of only two teams other than Barca or Real to win the league this century.

The other being Deportivo, with Bebeto, Valeron, Makaay, Tristan, Fran, Mauro Silva and the rest.

I have a lot of love for both of those teams for pulling off that impossible feat.

Yeah...shame no one's close to that today. I thought Athletic were starting something, but now that they've sold Martinez, I fear they'll lose all the momentum they've built up over the past couple of seasons.

When I was a young man in the fifties we had an old 78 with the words:

For breakfast I likes a little bit of toast,
And `alf a pint of ale.
And for dinner I likes a little bit of meat,
And `alf a pint of ale.
Now for tea I likes a little bit o` fish,
And `alf a pint of ale.
But for supper I likes a crust of bread and cheese,
And a gallon and a half of ale.

For those who can't get enough of Mark Lawrenson stating that Gaston Ramirez won't be going to Southampton, I stumbled over the BBC video again. If only the apology hadn't been on MOTD1, everyone could still see it. Ah well... Click the link.

They lost to Sparta Prague yesterday. I think it's safe to say they'll be back to mid-table obscurity this season. It's nice to see that Valencia and Depor are both starting a bit of a revival now though. They always were the lovable underdogs. I'd much rather see them in Europe than Malaga, the Man City of Spain.

Although Malaga have a good chance of qualifying from the group stages of the Champions League, which will certainly help their finances. 2 wins out of 2 so far.

I like to see any club rattling their leagues and the established clubs. It's well and truly about time for a change of order, as seeing the same clubs is so boring. I notice Leyton Orient are starting to have aspirations, seeing as they may ground share with WHU. Good for them too. Another club of note is Man City. We should be celebrating the fact that they have challenged and knocked several clubs off their former high and untouchable perches, instead of suggesting that they have bought the success they have had. Every club does that, whether slowly or quickly.

On a side note - what do people make of the new Bond theme?

I thought Gomarchingin must have written the early lyrics! It ain't bad, typical of its genre, not easy to convert to a football chant though.

Yeah, it sounds very Bondy so to speak. Sounds a bit like Diamonds Are Forever in places.

It doesn't work. Sounds contrived, in my opinion, like the composer had song writer's block, and had to get something out before a deadline. Play it against some of the Bond classics and it palls very quickly. Not that it ever gets started.

Yeah it sounds "Bondy" because it's clearly written to sound like other Bond themes. It's barely even an original song. I can hear elements of Diamonds Are Forever, and also a lot of similarities to the Casino Royale one that Chris Cornell did. I dunno why people make such a fuss over a soundtrack anyway.
